Bounce rate hits the roof

Could anyone hazard a guess as to why my bounce rate went ballistic on 01 Dec?

I didn’t change anything but my web geeks installed new tracking code. The code up to 01 Dec was not counting purchased so they installed a different version. I noticed bounce rate was shooting up so I asked them to put the original code back - they say they did, but bounce rate is still sky high.

Difficult to say without looking at the set up but you can change the criteria for the bounce rate quite easily in Tag Manager. Is the new "tracking code" you mention Google Tag Manager code? Maybe they have changed how bounce rate is handled there.

Mmmmm definitely something wrong. I’m seeing 157 Adwords clicks over a set period - but Analytics is showing just one paid click over the same period !

It’s an off the shelf EKM website.

I used to manage it myself, I never installed tag manager and analytics always seemed ok.

I’m not even sure if I can install it via their editing setup. I don’t think there is a way for us customers to add/edit HTML.

The installation of the new tracking codes by your web geeks will track the entire website so no need to install it per page. The reason for high bounce rate is the behavior of the visitors from the page which means it doesn't met the needs and expectations of the users.
