There are quite a few Welsh posters on the forums but the key is making the Regional sections worthwhile for them to post here. Many businesses aren't localised so might not see the point other than a bit of patriotism.

It would be good if these areas take off so that local information and support is more accessible. A couple more threads might go some way to helping get this section underway.

Good luck all,

Andrew

good idea re threads.
yes ok not all businesses are local but they do normally need local support. so that may help

I've just got back from a weekend in Bridgend to go to my cousin's 90th birthday in Maesycwmmer. Does that count?

Does it help that another of my cousins actually speaks fluent Welsh and used to take part in Eisteddfods?

... and my grandparents used to live in Hengoed/Pengam

... and my son was called Barry John

I'm feeling more Welsh by the minute :D

yes you count. you can take the boy out of wales and all that.

I'm a Welsh-speaking Englishwoman who's lived in North Wales for 8 years... been meaning to post in the Welsh forum but didn't fancy being the first one to do it :)

I'm halfway between Caernarfon and Pwllheli, so if anyone wants an off-site marketing manager in that area I'm your lady :)

Wyn of Aqua Marketing, based in Caernarfon, also uses the forum. And an England-based Welsh friend of mine, Llinos, is a newish member too.

Maybe we'll all start crawling out of the woodwork now, eh? :D

Well ladies and gents, there are a few people here now so here comes some shameless plugging. Part of our business is, despite being nationwide, mostly regional. We have a specialist portable appliance testing section and as most people on here need that, it seems worth mentioning. So when your pat testing is due, give us a call for a price at least, promise to make it good if you mention this forum. Our site for this section is heriskmanagement.com

I will start posting any networking and key regional events on here as i come across them.

Cheers

James

It's great to see a Welsh section on the forum and I've been meaning to contribute sooner!

I run a small bilingual marketing company in North Wales and have clients in South Wales as well as across the border, so hello to everyone!

I'm a Caaaardiffian - Work from home most of the time (when not on the road selling) although business is based in Nottingham. I for one would like to meet up with other Welsh UKBF members. Both for business and social networking.

Welshman here as well, from Swansea.

have to admit that seeing a load of Welsh being spoken (ok, written) is intimidating. like many others I feel guilty enough that I don't speak the language!

Good for you guys though, it really is something I should learn.

Bonjour/Helo/Siwmai?
i am a Welshman who grew up and lived in the valleys then went to England to steal all their money (and their women!) then ran away to live in France 3 years ago.

Its good to see the lingo being used though my problem even though i am fluent in Welsh keep getting mixed up with French so end up talking a bit of a mixture here - much to the confusion of the French!

if any compatriates fancy some tax and accounts advice I do most of my work via telephone, email and online meetings.

Hello

I get my 3 year residency status next month...! I guess that means I could play for Wales haha!

Moved here and became inspired to start my own bead & jewellery business, absolutely love Wales and the opportunites that it's given me. Plus the beaches, mountains, rugby players! Based just outside of Bridgend with my online retail businesses.

Lovely to meet you all

Hi all. I'm based in Cwmbran. Lived in Monmouthshire/Gwent all of my life, and I'm not a Welsh speaker. Had the chance to work away many moons ago, but it's just too nice around here!

Hi Shaun

Good to hear from you. Can I assume you work for CS then? I know some of your senior people, some quite well.

Hopefully we will all meet up soon.
