book suggestions on business law

Original Post:

Do you have any book suggestions to do with

• Trademark infringement
• Breech of distribution contract
• Competition law

It's always good to know a little bit about everything
What type/level of knowledge are you looking for? Deep, meaningful knowledge or just a variety of case studies?

There are a variety of 'Dummies' books around business law - they tend to be a good starting point.

Having 'studied' law at a very superficial level (one module of a business degree), I'd suggest that it's an area where 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing' often applies.

But again, it really depends what you are hoping to achieve

When it comes to law, a little knowledge may be a dangerous thing. On the other hand, no knowledge can be disastrous.

Take contract law, for example (simple compared to the area you mention). It is easy to learn simple risk management steps so as not to completely cock it up. The idea is to avoid legal disputes and arguments. And it is possible to mitigate or remove risk by simple steps. So, go for it!

Or why not become a solicitor? There’s a new route into the profession now called the Solicitors Qualifying Examination. You need a degree but it could be in anything. And there are a host of providers (I am not one so I have no interest in promoting the course).
