Hi,

In terms of SEO benefit, is it better to just write relevant text about your subject or write relevant text about your subject AND include links on keywords within the text.

Also - In terms of links ? Are links in signatures on the forums such as ukbusinessforums.co.uk beneficial SEO wise ?

Thanks

Would those links be of use to the reader? If the answer is yes then add the link. If not then don't do it.

Forum sig links might have some benefit but it all depends on the forum and how you use them. There was some discussion in the SEO world a while back that Google was going to penalise sig links but I don't know if anything ever came of it.

Earplugs - are you talking text on your website?

You should just gear the text toward giving the user the most coherent information about your product as possible - text links should go out to pages with content geared toward the anchor text of the incoming link. This is how Google sees that you're giving the user the info they're seeking.

You don`t even have to put your link with anchor, it may be raw URL, if the content of the article is right optimised and the content of your website too - google can figure out what should be ranked :)

Don`t focus too much on exact match anchors, these days it`s very risky game, most of the backlinks should be raw URLs, brandname and LT keyphrases. Well optimized website and contextual sites you linking from do the rest

Using a forum post/signature to link back to your site isn't about SEO, it's about offering value and advice to help position yourself as an expert in your field. By contributing to the forum and actually making an effort to help people, you will gain much more than you would by simply targeting posts that are vaguely relevant to your industry and posting a generic reply on old/dead threads that so many people seem to do.

Get involved in the forum community, offer advice and get natural traffic, or just move on and focus your SEO efforts elsewhere.

LInks should come naturally as you write about the subject... in terms of keywords, optimise your headings and make sure it's one h1 (largest heading) per page, so search engines can instantly see what the page is about.
