Just want to clarify your question, are you looking to track the individuals delivering your flyers to ensure they are actually going up the driveways and delivering the flyers?

If I was looking to have flyers delivered I would piggy back on someone or an organisation who was already delivering to houses. Either a leaflet distribution company or a magazine that was being delivered to those homes.

Even if you got a tracker that showed then walking up to the door it still doesn’t prove the leaflet got delivered. And if they were delivering to a block of flats they could just walk round the ground floor 10 times to look as if they covered all the floors.

All the local flyers get delivered by the postie.

Postal service means the leaflets get delivered, they are a very valuable form of income to the Post Office.

Trackers as mentioned might give clients some peace of mind, but it does not mean the leaflets get delivered. Saw approx 2/300 dumped in a skip only yesterday. Best method is to follow the route and inquire if a leaflet was received, but even that is not without flaws. People have bad memories and lie.

Simple GPS trackers can be had for £30 or less, probably £5 month for a SIM card. Another option if the leaflet delivered has a smart phone is to enable their gps to be tracked, but their data allowance would be used up.

Don’t forget though, no system works 100% of the time, GPS might not show such detail as driveways unless you are using a lot of data, expensive, but there will be times when GPS doesn’t work, or the user forgets to charge the tracker, or even switch it on.

Could you not just use an existing leaflet distribution company that offers GPS tracking as a service? If you do a little research and find one with good customer feedback then you're onto a winner. We have used Dor2Dor in the past but not for about 5 years. The Royal Mail is another option but can be costly but as least you get the peace of mind that they should be going out.

A bit later to the party on this one but I've ran a distribution co for 13 years now and tried all sorts of trackers, apps etc and the most reliable is a stand alone device that cost between £50-£60.

As others have pointed out if you can find a company with good feedback you shouldn't go far wrong, as for problems with reliability of the individual distributor yes 100% isn't a cast iron guarantee but as the owner of my biz I personally speak to all my guys before they start work and one of the checks I make is all about the tracker because it is key.

One thing I will say about RM is that the pro's are the leaflets will get delivered guaranteed at some point, the cons are you got to get them to their DC's (I think they a called bundling centres now?) and as its a bolt on service and not core its not priority to them.
I've won business with several clients over the years just for that reason that we could schedule a definite start and completion time for their distribution.
