Best Software?

Hi.

I'm currently running fully custom software, but I'm looking to switch to one of the open source solutions and wondered what people were recommending?

MAgento is probably the most powerful, but takes a lot to get going.

OScommerce and its loaded variants probably run more online shops that any other package.

Prestashop is growing well.

If you want content led retail, something like joomla/virtuemart.

For open-source you could try any of the following: Magento, OpenCart, osCommerce, TomatoCart or ZenCart. There are many others but these are the ones that the majority of our ecommerce clients use. Feel free to use our shopping cart page to check out each of these carts and more.

MAgento and zen cart are the kings of eCommerce. I guess both are best hard to select one because MAgento have many option pre installed but on zen cart you have ultimate option to edit it and its quite flexible according to your requirements.

Magento can be a good option for your Os-commerce.Its a very good Open source CMS which made the web designing very easy and the site can be designed within few hours.As they are open source, you can download the components any time from the Internet.They can be modifiable by the customer itself.

I'd recommend Joomla/VirtueMart, as by having a shopping cart on top of a CMS you ensure that you can add further functionality later on. If you go just for a shopping cart then that is what you are stuck with going forward.

To top of it all i could say magento is the best. Very flexible and feature rich you should check it out.

CRE Loaded is a much improved version of osCommerce and most of the osC plugins work on it with slight modifications.

I am curious, before giving off the cuff, and unresearched advice, to understand your reasons for wanting to change. Does the software you currently use not deliver?

And if not, what are you wanting to achieve with the change?
