Best place for job adverts?

I'm looking to recruit a new member of staff, haven't done it for years, is Indeed still the place to go for it? Or are there other sites you'd recommend higher? Are there any promo's / deals / offers for first time adverts or that you're aware of that might help with getting the job advert out there?

    Thank you

Forget LinkedIN unless you have a large following of people doing roles similar to those you are recruiting, or you are willing to wait a while for the right person to come along, it is slow burn not instant result.
I did 27 years in IT & Tech recruitment with a bit of Accounts as well so tell me the type of role i will tell you where to advertise (and likely cost)

You can always take your chances with Indeed, it is free but you get what you pay for which is basically a mass of applications many of which will be irrelevant (people who are signing on and needing to prove they have made x applications per week). Reed have a similar option (was knows as Reed Freecruit) you will get a canvassing call from one of their branches but that is a small price to pay.

If you are writing an ad remember AIDA (courtesy of an event i went to years ago hosted by the institute of practitioners in advertising)

A ttention (on an online ad this is using the words people are searching with)
I nterest (the wording describing the job which makes the applicant think it applies to them)
D esire (the reasons why they should apply to you, not just £ but location, working environment, training or advancement opportunities)
A ction (how they apply, by when, what format etc)

Obviously it would depend on the role you are recruiting to. For some you need a specialist recruitment company or head-hunters, for other specialist job boards, for other you can use general ones or the job centre.

    What role are you advertising?

We use Indeed, at £30 a month (we have to pay) and we get a moderate to poor response but if you persevere you can usually find what you want at the lower end jobs.
You don't have to pay you just need to know how to use their system -as an ex recruiter i know as long as you have less than 10 simultaneous jobs on it you can use it for free despite it keep telling you, you will have to pay, all paying does is theoretically get you ad nearer the top of searches but I found properly writing them to use the terms people would search on was a better way of doing that
