100% recommend Stripe terminal for this. Plus if you sell online you can connect it all through the same account.

Fees are rasonable, service rock solid, supports over the phone payments, you can email payment links, embed on your website - all without code knowledge.

Edit to add - These guys are also good if you want a plug and play system with minimal effort - £50 per month to pay for their cash register system interest free, or £599 up front, then you pay 1.75% per card transaction.

I had a Zettle Till when I had my business, all just runs from 1 iPad and connects to the drawer and printer. I bought mine from eBay pretty much brand new with the iPad for around £400.
