Hi there,

It's nice to see your trying your hand at SEO and interested in learning to DIY as well.

I would say that your website could use a 360 SEO face-lift! and you could most certainly brush up and make a big impact with some rich content in terms of the key words on your pages.

Also I know it can be a bit crazy in terms of listings but Gumtree is getting a high search rate for your service at the moment so just in terms of advertising maybe give it a go if you have not already.

Also in terms of website feedback in general for conversion I would put your 'services' key points at the top of your website with a shorter description at the start and make your telephone number a lot more obvious, make it three times the size.

Feel free to PM me for some more advice.

Best of luck...

Thanks for your info.
How do I build links. I know all my key words as I have a ppc campaign running, just not sure how to build links.
Kenny,

You don't need to do any link building. It's the content of your site that need optimising.

Page titles, headers, content, lists, alt text, images, testimonials, project posts, location reports and so on all with your keywords embedded.

You had for example a twitter post on a bad run, you could have posted about it on the blog instead giving google something to index.

Add it to the content.

For example write a post about a delivery to somewhere, desCribe the route the traffic in the villages, the property you delivered from and to, the lack of lifts, the name of the town, the words van and man need to be in their as well.

If you don't use the keywords the google isn't going to know you want to rank for them.

Remember as well that people search for all sorts of things do you need to use the words domestic, house, office, commercial, filing cabinets, boxes, short distance, packing and so on as well.

Be careful when writing content for your webpages as sites considered webspam are now penalised by google.

Just by writing the information needed, you should use words related to your business and products where relevant like when describing things - which makes your use of keywords natural.

For example,

"Our man-with-a-van business is based in xxx and we cater for all types of uses including moving home or office, collecting and delivering bought or sold Ebay items, etc.,. We provide boxes and packaging to ensure your items arrive at their destination in excellent condition and on time."

Whatever you do, do not duplicate things on other pages. This is penalised also. If you do repeat info, place the "canonical" meta tag on the first page you wrote (home). Using words which do not make sense in context will be penalised also. :)

Im going to need a copy writer, Im no good at writing content. My site has lots of duplicate content.

Was very poor at English at school, its times like this I wish I tried harder at school.

Here's some help with writing...three things which are good to use and will improve your content:

1. Use subject - verb - object for sentences = example: Our business (subject) provides (verb) courier services (object).

2. Make each paragraph talk only about one aspect at a time

3. Make your piece like this:

a) Introduction
b) Each paragraph follows the other
c) Conclude

Best of luck :)
