Basic PAYE tools ; unable to input correct "Date appointed as director" date, due to previous payments

I run the payroll for a single director company, which opened in July last year.
He has been paid under freeagent payroll software.
I need use Basic PAYE tools now. So I have put year to earning in but when I go to
"Date appointed as director" I put in July 24 and it says " This employee has already been paid. The director date appointed must be after the last payment"

They do and they were very helpful on the one occasion I needed to call, admittedly some time ago now.

You might find it difficult to get any help on here because most of the accountants don't use PAYE Basic Tools. I looked at it some years ago and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth the price - and yes I do know that it's free! It was that bad in comparison to other software.

There may be other forum users who do use it, but I suspect that they won't have any great experience in problem solving as they won't see it used in the context of other businesses. Your best bet for a prompt solution is almost certainly to try the HMRC helplines rather than wait for help on the forum.

Do you really need to use basic tools when you have FreeAgent. I have always found FreeAgent support very good It might be worth talking to them to see if you do really need to downgrade to basic tools.
