for back link checker use this command link:site name
Pointless I'm afraid, the link: command has been broken for year.

I quite like linkdiagonsis.com

Yahoo does a pretty good job as well:

linkdomain:mysite.com -site:mysite.com

The -site:mysite.com is there to exclude any internal links.

I am also using this site for checking the back links for our site. This also helps for competitor analysis which is very much required for beating the competitors. From this, you can check the back link of the competitors and also you can get more sites for your posting job.

Hi, I use bluebacklinks.com ... here you can also check your Do-follow and No-follow back links separately.

+1 for bluebacklinks. Bad bit - You can update report of 1 website every 7 days only :/

But, if you are serious in this business - I would suggest to get SEO power suite - superb collection of onsite and offsite anlytics tools.

... i suppose - you could get free trials on their website. try it and you will see the true images of seo reports

... by the way - it is beeing used by many black hats as well (guess why).

all the best,
Helmuts

I have found (after exhaustive searching!) MajesticSEO is the best web-based and Ranktracker is the best desktop (as it incorporates listing from other dbs such as Google Places)

Yes, I think Ranktracker is the most useful one. Because, I tried it many times. But, somehow I'd encountered some failures stating that (Temp. Block ...). What makes it cause? I tried to find some answers in there site but still I don't find any answers. :(

Try using proxies - it should help with getting blocked :)

try to google some answers how to do that - or, if you know nothing about proxies - start with youtube tutorials

What is your purpose in checking backlinks?

As a general backlink checker I would recommend majesticseo.com. Their fresh index is great if you are actively link building.

Depending on how you are building your backlinks you would probably get more benefit by keeping a list of all the URLs where you have built backlinks and then checking which of those URLs are indexed in Google.

In many cases it is not surprising to see less than 20% of the backlinks you have built getting indexed by Google. If you find that is the case then you might get more value getting your current backlinks indexed.

They just released a new version - it's much better than before (and it was pretty good then!)

 I see... I think that Link-Assistant products has auto update capability. I found out that every 2-3 days they have updates. But still I encountered this kind of errors. :|

The recent change is a major overhaul - the first in years. Also they have a pretty responsive forum (in my experience) which could help with your problem.
