I'm looking at options for 0845 and these guys are seriously cheaper than BT. In fact it's so much cheaper I'm slightly suspicious. Does anyone use them and if so what are they like?

    Everybody is cheaper than BT.

Our numbers are £2 per month. (You're normally better advised to use an 01 or 02 number, but if you must have a non-geographic number, 03 is the one to choose these days as they are cheap ro call from mobiles.)

I had a number with them for several years. No problem until my debit card expired. They requested new details, but the email was spammed out I guess as I never received it.They then slapped an excessive 'late' fee on me. I knew nothing about it until the line was cut. When I contacted them they said I owed £45.64 and should pay before I got a court claim!!! I knew nothing about it and would have been none the wiser had I not been the one to contact them! They have no telephone number to contact them on (ironic given their area of business!). I was very disappointed. Having Googled I see that others have had similar problems - emails that were never received followed by excessive penalties. It's hard not to conclude that they almost wait for it to happen as a source of income given that the fee is 9x the value of the original charge!

very dodgy tactic used by them:
if you google them, you come up with Rating: 4.9 - ‎2,858 reviews but no link to the google reviews.
upon further digging, it seems like this is made up as if you look at the cached results and look at the bottom line, this text is written in invisible ink, basically it seems like it's an SEO tactic and blatant lie to influence the appearance of the google result.
    I wouldn't trust them.

I had the same experience as StephC. My card expired and they charged me an extra £40. They said they were allowed to do this under late payment legislation. I owed them £12 for a couple of weeks while I updated me card! I have one way of dealing with companies like this. I cancelled my account with them straight away. I asked them for their trading address and they refused to give it to me. They kept referring me to an address in Orpington, Kent. When I investigated the address I discovered this was the address of Graham Dobson & Co Accountants and Thomas Dunton Solicitors. In my opinion a dodgy company but you can make your own mind up.

The likes of Voipfone are your best best. Easy to use and manage. I would also consider using a geographical number as 0845 numbers are not popular! With the majority of calls made from mobiles these days- you could be deterring customers from contacting you.

Message to STEPHC and PHONEREPAIR. I am not being funny, and I have read the full terms and conditions of this company. Firstly, 99% all all people in the UK know when their card is due to expire, and know which companies they need to tell to correct automatic payment. Secondly, there is a section in MY ACCOUNT on the UK2NUMBER which says, "UPDATE BILLING DETAILS". If you have the sense to read the terms and conditions like I did, and lets face it 90% of people do not, then you would have been aware of the fees INVOLVED. If you are like me, then 60% of people in this country have a mobile phone which has a diary or calendar function on it that reminds you of things, and common sense would suggest to place a reminder in there that your card is about to expire, and list the companies that you need to update with. ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. I have just taken, and very happy to be with UK2NUMBERS. They clearly state that they do not have a number, as a way of keeping costs down for their customers, which to be honest is very admiral. If all big companies to this attitude, this country would not be in such a mess its in, and finnally, I AM NOT A CONSERVATIVE VOTER, which many reading this might think. Before slagging a company down READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS and make your mind up then. At least then if you don't like them, YOU HAVE A CHOICE.....

The same company also has UK2Domains, so why would such a big company, with a great customer base want to rip off its customers.

    (My Bold)

You quote a number of statistics - can you provide sources?

The first one, in particular, I suspect is wildly inaccurate.

The problem with using made up or inaccurate statements in a post is that it calls into question the validity of the rest of the post.

I can only guess you work for, or have an involvement with the company, to post a response like this. Typing in capital letters is considered as shouting in a post and can also be considered offensive. Are you really advocating that all big companies should not have a telephone contact number? Yes we do have a choice and that choice involves not dealing with companies that hide additional charges in the small print and have no contact telephone number or trading address.

I can only go by my personal experiences; I currently have an '0208' number with this company and have had an '0800' with them in the past and have only ever had good experiences. They even waived a change of number fee for me recently when I needed to change the number I was forwarding to for reasons beyond my control.
If they lay out there terms clearly about any fees for, for example, inaccurate billing details - then I can't see the issue. If you haven't read the T's & C's, then on your head be it.

Just my opinion. Not slating anyone or anything.

We can provide all number types; geographic (01/02) and non geographic (08 / 03/ 09 & 07). I hope we are not the cheapest but we are very cost effective.

We can also port numbers from most other providers so if you have a number with someone else and would like a better service and price then drop me a line.

Be very careful of entering into a contract with UK2Numbers, there price structure may look cheap but that sums up there customer service, try to phone them and speak to an advisor, you won't find a phone number on there web site as there is none, alarm bells are now ringing.

As many people are finding out they wait for an error to occur that takes a customer in to debt then leave the supposedly charge/penalty to build up and then for the customer to make contact only to be told the invoice is now greater than if they had contacted the customer in the first place to sort things out, try googling UK2Numbers reviews and all will be revealed.

Any decent trading company would wish to keep its customers but UK2Numbers are doing the exact opposite.
