Hi all,

I've been looking for a way to get a geographic number and forward the calls to my mobile and all the options I've found have seemed quite pricey to me. Today I came across http://www.ereceptionist.co.uk/ which gives you 350 minutes for just under £10

Has anyone used this service as it seems like a bit of a bargain to me, are my above statement correct, does this mean I don't have to pay the 10p+ a min for receiving calls to my mobile? Any comments and/or advice of other services would be great.

Regards

Good evening,

Try voicehost.co.uk this is a great provider, offers non-geographic number for about £2 per month and then just £5 for an auto attendant. You have set the system up to route calls to a variety if destinations ie mobile/landline/VoIP phone.

Very flexible and good system - happy to give you any advice on voicehost set up etc if ou need it, feel free to pm me.

Best wishes

Fortis

I divert one of my business lines to mobile when I'm out and about. Switched to Voipfone last summer and service has been excellent. Their MD is a member on here (cjd). Cost is £2+VAT per month for a geographic number and 10p a minute for calls diverted to mobile. You can use a SIP client (either a physical handset or a software program) to make/receive calls and avoid the divert charges when you've got a broadband connection available.

10p a min still seems quite price to me as 10p/min x 350 = £35 if my maths is correct. ereceptionist is £9.95 for 350 mins however I don't know anyone that has used these guys which is why I haven't decided to go for it yet until I find some positive reviews.

I'm still in the early stages of my business and want to keep costs as low as possible, since I'm working from home a mobile diversion seems like a solution to me.

You know that there's no free lunch.......

Your £10 per month buys you a number plus 350 minutes of diverts. That's less than 15 minutes per working day, after that you pay 18.9p per minute (and the calculation is undefined.)

Everyone pays the same for sending a call to the mobile networks - they're regulated prices so there are no long term sustainable, 'too good to miss' deals to be had.

I think it's far better to pay for what you use rather than a weasily package but in the end, you're going to be messing around with pennies here or there and you're going to miss the really important issue.

That's the simple fact that their numbers are inbound only and they own them not you. So if want to make outbound calls you can't and if you want to move to a service where you can, you lose the number that your customers know and is on all your stationery.

You also can't amswer the calls yourself if you want to avoid the divert charge so that as you become more successful your costs go up and you can't expand.

Switchboard services are out of date and redundant - get yourself a flexible VoIP service that will grow with you and save you money.

(If you,re working from home, don't divert to a mobile, answer the call using a VoIP device - then it costs nothing.)
