I absolutely adore animals and couldn't imagine my life without them.

I have:

4 cats
30+ chickens
12 ducks
2 Pygmy Goats
3 Ouessant Sheep

Each day brings joys and lots of mucking out! hehe

Wouldn't have it any other way though.

Anyone else mad about animals?

Regards.

Ner I hate 'em!! No sorry thats my kids!!!! I keep getting that one wrong.

Kids, animals ...

Yes animals are the ones that don't ask for money all the time, you just spend money on them all the time, or you do if you have a pony that hates rugs and escapes from them and leaves them on the barbed wire fence in pieces!!!!!!!!!

WOWEE, are they related to wolves?

There are two schools of thought as to whether dogs are direct decendants of wolves..........so I dont know myself...only what Ive read in books...they are very wolf like though.....not at all like domestic dogs...they are a working breed and we do work them. You can see more pics on my snowpines website below :)

We do love animals but..... we have a semi-wild guinea pig - escaped from the run on the lawn and now lives (contentedly it would appear) in the laundry outhouse. Amusing when you go to sort the recycling (which also happens here) and get 'chattered' to. He can come and go as he pleases, onto the lawn and off, plus the children leave him the vegetable scraps daily - he looks fabulous but you cannot catch him. We have a Shetland cross, he was a Blue Cross pony and is very old, now used as a companion pony, plus we have a beautiful Welsh Section A mare, bought for me to drive but more often used for the children to ride. My son rode her before he could walk! We also have a cocker spaniel - absolutely not my choice (although I love her dearly) it was a gift for one of the children (I promise to walk and groom her everyday - fortnight) she is now fully clipped and walked by moi. I don't really mind and she is a lovely dog, plus I can hold her up as an example when the other children ask for pets. Children? I absolutely adore children, which is lucky, as we have seven. Yes, seven.
Next year we are to have chickens, the year after that we are to keep bees. We have some bee boles here which are being restored, we won't use them as there are more efficient ways to keep bees but I do want to recreate the garden area as it was near to the bee boles, I appear to be the only person terribly excited about this, hey ho. Your dogs are really stunning the photographs are beautiful. Lovely to have horsey people on here, I do absolutely adore horses, used to ride regularly but seldom get the chance now and miss it dreadfully. In twenty years time......

The photos on your site are amazing but had to stop looking because I couldn't find where to turn the damned noise off. They are very wolf like and glad to see you work them.

Do you sell the photo's? If so I want the one on the front page of the single dog lying on the wooden floor. That would make an amazing screensaver.

Lol...some people like that damn noise:p You have to turn it off by disabling the sound control on your pc bottom right....speaker icon:) The pic you mention is my boy Indi (Achak Simply Indigo at Snowpines to be precise lol) and that is my icon pic....someone else has it as a screen saver too....will see if I can find the original format to send you......I resize things so often I lose track of them:)

Wow, just found this thread. Barbara, I actually work with animals and have done for the past 30 years.

Sally all dogs are related to wolves. The wolf (Canis lupus), is the original ancestor of the dog (Canis familiaris). The dog has 78 chromosomes, exactly the same as the wolf. Other canids usually have fewer but all are thought to have approximately 40,000 genes.

If there is one thing I wish I had done in my life it is to have kept sled dogs.

Unfortunately Top Hat has put his foot down on this one, however, should he ever suffer an unfortunate canoeing accident off the East Coast......

I have 5 cats though, 4 orientals and an Ocicat.

Me me I do!! I was raised as a vegetarian as and such have always had such a strong passion for all animal life. We currently have 3 rescue dogs and 200 tarantulas (dont ask!) but one day I hope to afford property with some land so we can rescue an array of farm animals. I spent 2005 working at a primate sanctuary in Florida and it was the most wonderful year of my life, monkeys are so special thye truly made my heart melt :)
