Anyone face the same problem?

Hi,

Whenever I buy something online, I will read a lot of reviews since I cannot see the product physically and to make sure I am getting something worth my money. What I do is google "(product name) reviews" and click through the links. It can be a bit frustrating to do that, especially when I can't find good reviews.

Does anyone face the same problem? Do you do the same thing as me?

@hazel, I see, no worries and thanks for replying! Anyway, how do you normally go about searching for product reviews?

@simon, I meant reviews that do not do a good job reviewing the product (ie. not informative enough or too vague) and not positive reviews. Sorry for being unclear.

You old cynic.
Lol.
Anyway, it's because I want to get my gf a gift for valentines which is coming up. So I'm trying to get something legit and well recommended. Anyone has better ways of searching for reviews than what I do?

I know there are many good tech reviews sites but I don't want to get a tech product. Probably apparels like bags or something.

Ahhhhhhhh you big softie, int you lovely!!!!!

You'd have to be a brave man to buy a girl a bag of any description, thin ice if you get it wrong and she'll think you're weird if you get it right!!!

Tech product what you like!! I got a shovel you can borrow, you may need it to dig yourself a BIG HOLE TO HIDE IN!!!!

Get her some chocolates and a bit of bling, anything shiny usually goes down well with the ladies!!

Thanks for suggestions! I have a rough idea what to get. I'm just not sure if it will be a good item so I looked for reviews online. Hence, my frustration in searching and hence, this post :)

Lol, I said I won't get tech product...

Online reviews are a thing of the past; people are still a little too silly not to move on.

Imagine a community of self-less people writing reviews on products so every person within that community and general web viewers can find out actually how good a product is before buying it and receive recommendations and advice on the products in general... what could go wrong?

- Retailers and manufacturers with a vested interest in positive reviews for their product.
- trolls and the absolutely hilarious writing irrelevant comments, I guess for fun.
- friends and family of a retail employee, putting in a good word.
- the damn right (or should that be wrong) stupid, either posting a review about the wrong product, or writing a review on the product before using it or failing to review a product at all ("collected in store no problems".... BUT IS IT ANY GOOD?)
- people who couldn't read the box, product description, manual, safety notes, and/or don't have any common sense ("product is poorly built, broken when the car drove over it...")
or in the case of TripAdvisor....
- (Didn't get a discount, so... ) "service was sh!t..."

Wow. While that is very radical, I must say that you pointed out many problems with current reviews and review sites. Then, I'm quite curious, if you don't read reviews before buying something online, what do you do to ensure that the product is worth your money?
