Am I the only one who runs a company and is disgusted with Ebay uk for selling so much advertising space on the Ebay site?

Google Ads all over search results

Ad boxes in peoples listing, not only just general advertising like BT Internet best deals etc but actual identical products as what people are selling on Ebay!

I know Ebay will be getting a massive chunk from Google etc for this advertising but they are taking masses of shoppers away from the ebay site!

I personally dont mind the BT / Sky / Banks type advertising but when its competitors selling products on outside websites its disgusting:mad:

Anyone shed any light on this matter? with why Ebay are killing the site for a cheap buck:|

Nope, as a shopper I'm not the slightest bit fussed about the adverts.

Why is it disgusting? It's called marketing and has been going on for years.

Get your own website and put up your own adverts - might even end up being cheaper than the ebay fees.

Put yourself into a companies shoes who pays Ebay tens of thousands of pounds in fees. ~So customers can find their products on the Ebay market place.

It's called marketing yes but Ebay are doing their sellers out of business, that then equals they are doing themselves out of fees. i.e their business.

Do this for long enough the Sellers which ''make'' ebay what it is will stop selling on there. Do this on a large scale then the customers get fed up of ebay because there is no products on there, then Ebay is a quiet marketplace, then they wouldnt be able to sell their Marketing space because there is less traffic.

Typical Buyer experience response! Do you work for ebay may I ask ?

Any Sellers / Companies who sell on ebay have a view on this?

Do you pay ebay anything for your listing?
Do you pay ebay anything if the item doesn't sell?

Everyone complained when gogole stated PPC and claimed it would be the end of the world. All that happened is people still used gogole.

Ebay is a business. They are looking to monetize everything. If it means you go bust it doesn't matter to ebay because there are plenty of others who will take your place.

I don't work for ebay. It's just commercial reality. All you need to do is adapt and put your own adverts on ebay.

I'm not gloating (because I can't gloat!) but it's interesting to observe that the on-line retailers often tell the B&M retailers to grow up and accept the new rules of commerce... and that the B&M sector is going to continue to be hit.

Here, I guess ebay, along with Amazon, along with Google, along with the ever increasing need to spend ever increasing amounts on SEO for 'own' sites - they are just showing that the new rules of commerce might favour the big ecommerce service-providers, rather than the retailers.

I was surprised recently whilst doing my first PCC campaign in ages that people who clicked and bought from my websites - which aren't the cheapest - had actually come there via Ebay and Amazon so they obviously hadn't found what they were looking for there.
