I must admit I have just bought a Android Asus Transformer Prime Tablet, it came 3 weeks after I bought my partner a Ipad 3, I am totally anti Apple but the Ipad 3 I bought her is I find it much better but I am not going to admit it to her.

I have not give the Asus a real chance, I took it on holiday but nothing really worked well enough for me, poor Wifi signal, where as the Ipad was working fine

Phone wise though, I have had all, my current phone is a HTC One X and it is truly the best phone I ever had, I had a blackberry before and hated it, I had a Iphone and hated it more than any thing, and I had a Dell Windows 7.5 mobile which I really liked except for the Zune you are forced to use.

Phone wise the Android wins hands down for me, The Windows phone 7.5 I loved, the tiles and the speed, it had a wow factor but they ruined it for me by going down the Itunes route with Zune, and the Apple seems very dated.

Got the iphone 4.s which i have always been impressed with but i think the bar was set way too high with the i phone 4 .
They are struck for ideas on how to improve it so me personally i doubt i will buy the i phone 5 .
Will probably get the samsung galaxy s3.
Someone said it best when they said apple are becomming the call of duty of phones .

Love the Call of Duty analogy! So true - the S3 is amazing and it could be time to finally switch!

Im with IOS because I have got used to my Iphone. I have an IPAD as well and I have an Adroid tablet. I prefer the IPAD to be honest.

In this new 6th generation iPhone have a great quality. The iPhone 5 has an A6 processor. It sports a dual-core CPU with quad-core graphics and it is 2x faster than iPhone 4S's A5 CPU.
In the US with a two year contract:
$199 for 16 GB
$299 for 32 GB
$399 for 64 GB.
And very fascinating look and weight
Height: 4.87 inches (123.8 mm)
Width: 2.31 inches (58.6 mm)
Depth: 0.30 inch (7.6 mm)
Weight: 3.95 ounces (112 grams). One of the best things in iPhone is FaceTime HD camera takes 1.2MP photos and HD video (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio. The back camera has a 8-megapixel iSight camera with Backside illumination, Hybrid IR filter,
Five-element lens, LED flash, ƒ/2.4 aperture, Face detection and Panorama mode. Support HD video recording (1080p) with video stabilization, stills and photo and video geotagging over Wi-Fi.

I personally prefer Windows Phone although, it does have its downsides... mainly from OS limitations regarding voip calls and push notifications.
The Xbox live arcade/indie games allow you to get gamerscore points through some phone games if this is your thing. the battery life is slightly on the short side but the os is mainly lag free and smooth running.

I've had an android before and it seemed pretty good although i had some issues with the text deletion speed, would take hours to delete all my inbox folder despite using a "delete all texts" app, apart from that i cant fault androids, mine had a pretty good battery life compared to ios phones and my Lumia but this isnt really anything to do with the android os.

Ios is pretty good although if you are on O2/3/Orange, you may have trouble with the network hanging and rendering your phone useless until your phone switches signal over from 3g down to gsm which in my experience and a few other peoples can last anything from 10 seconds to 15 minutes, maybe more. App store is way bigger on Iphone but the graphics are lots better on the games too.

Like someone said on a post i read, it's mainly down to your personal preference, iv just highlighted problems iv had with my Windows phone, past android phones and iphones i have had.

Never used an iPhone but switched to Android last year (from BB) and IMHO it is the nuts.

My wifes windows phone is clunky and has very little in the way of apps compared to the available ones I use (kaspersky for one).

I would choose Android every time as they seem to be catching up with the fruity version each day and I love the integration options it gives the user without tying us down to its own particular variant of fruit offering...

My android links up perfectly with my PC, laptop and tablet whereby does the fruity one not need a compatible pad and mac etc??

Delete works fine now, very quick and easy also you can just delete certain texts

The worse thing about the older windows phone 6.5, you used to delete then it stored it in a deleted folder, agghhh, I never realised at first but my other half worked it out, you can guess the rest.

I would like a swipe or eye reader so the phone could be unlocked / answered only by me surely they have that invented that technology already.

The best thing about these 6 pages just shows we are all different and we all have different needs, so its a good thing there are in the main 3 types of o/s for mobiles.

Its a shame some of the posts get a bit narky when someone has a different opinion, but I can be a bit like that myself sometimes.

There will always be a group of people thinking that 'their' choice is the only good choice. I am using Windows Phone for about 2 years now, earlier had some Windows Mobile smartphones and I think these are nice. Windows Phone is very fast and I think Marketplace will be growing fast now, especially with Windows 8 on its way.

I also bought LG L3 phone few days ago, which is low-end Android smartphone. Its purpose is to make calls, texts and synchronise with Exchange to keep contacts updated. And it does the job perfectly and cost only £70 (PAYG).

I used to have a Nokia Windows phone and IT have to say that compared to my Android it was pretty poor in terms of performance and functions. I just managed to drop my Android phone doen the stairs though which has not been good. I've borrowed a new Blackberry whilst I wait for a replacement: truly awful!

Yes right every people have different choice. This is the real figur of current smartphone market

Here are IDC's figures for worldwide smartphone unit sales and market share in the second quarter of 2012, by operating system.

— Android (Google Inc.) — 104.8 million units, 68.1 percent share (46.9 percent a year earlier)

— iOS (Apple Inc.'s iPhone) — 26.0 million units, 16.9 percent share (18.8 percent a year earlier)

— BlackBerry (Research in Motion Ltd.) — 7.4 million units, 4.8 percent share (11.5 percent a year earlier)

— Symbian (mostly used by Nokia Corp.) — 6.8 million units, 4.4 percent share (16.9 percent a year earlier)

I was previously an iPhone user. Then I decided to try Android and bought the Galaxy Samsung S2 (the latest at the time).

What I would say is that whilst Android is very good on paper and specification, what that fails to describe is the usability of the phone and unfortunately, it doesn't come up to scratch with the Android phones I've had. However, on the iPhone, movements are simpler, more elegant, and less prone to freezing. I also use my phone as an MP3 system and the iPhone is just made to do that - ease of shuffling through a playlist via a remote on your headphones. Finding a compatible headphone set for the Samsung was a massive pain.

Although it goes against my ethos of open access and competition, I went back to Apple because the usability is much much better.

This thread is very subjective, personally i like my iPhone because IOS is more user friendly than its competitors. But we've got to realise the iPhone is designed by Apple running IOS, Android isnt a make of a phone, its an OS with many devices made by different companies. So is Windows Mobile and yes i have been a user of all 3 at different points in my life.
Thread should really be titled android vs IOS vs window mobile

Have you used Windows Phone or Windows Mobile? There is massive difference between this two, completely non connected systems, apart of Windows in name. If you only compare it on the basis of Windows Mobile I am not surprised that you prefer iOS. At the other hand: what versions have you used, as WP7 is significantly different from WP7.5.

Here are IDC's figures for worldwide smartphone unit sales and market share in the second quarter of 2012, by operating system.

Strange comparison, it sums to 94.2. Does it mean that Windows Phone is 3rd with 5.8% share? ;)

the iOS is a too much closed system, that does'nt let let you do whatever you like with it.
I like to personalize my phone to its limits, and thats when android comes in... ;)
But because of that it's a much less stable os.

3 gives their reasons for choosing the Lumia 920 over the iphone5 including the superior camera, you can use it with gloves on, wireless charging and the colours it's available in...

I totally agree with them, and no I'm not employed by Nokia or Microsoft, I'm just a big fan of Windows Phone 7 having used it for over 2 years and I love my Nokia Lumia 900 but am looking forward to getting the Lumia 920 even more.

I'm just waiting for it to be available on a 'decent' network. Bit of a con but apparently the SIM free ones being sold in Phones4U arent SIM free at all, they are locked and can only be used with T-Mob, Orange and EE.

Its a shame when you take 1 crap network (T-Mob) and another crap network (Orange) to create a super network its double-crap! And now its on 3? Another crap network!

I very nearly ordered 2 nokia lumia 820's on an upgrade with t-mobile today, until i stumbled on a post in the nokia forum. No bluetooth connection with our car or works van, both vehicles less than 2 years old. Apparently windows phones don't have the capability for 'tethering' (?) Via bluetooth. Seems a bit of a giant leap backwards?!

Windows os also means you can't personalise text message/alarm/reminder tones & there's no flashing light to indicate a missed call/text etc. Perhaps minor issues, but i quite like having 'don't you forget about me' playing for my reminder! :D

I am currently using iPhone4.The camera of 5 MP, 2592 x 1936 pixels, autofocus, LED flash is satiating to me. Moreover the display features,ie,LED-backlit IPS TFT with capacitive touchscreen is really awesome. Isn't it??

i'll correct my previous comment about bluetooth as i've had some more advice. it should connect via bluetooth to any hands free in-car set up, it's the more complex systems (ie. mercedes Comand) that it has problems with. you can't operate the more advanced features, online etc., via the phone & you can only use basic features.

i still don't like the other little niggles though, which is a shame, as it looks a great phone & appears to be receiving favourable user reviews.

Apple iphone 5 for me. My previous mobile being an Android phone served my needs but fancied a change deciding to go to the Apple brand.
When visiting my local mobile phone shop I was faced with a huge choice of Smartphone's that in essence all offered me the same level of functionality, but do it differently with some phones being more configurable than others.
So it's really all down to personal preference.
