Try the the business link website and use the search function. I would post the address to the info you require but I am a new member here and it will not allow it.

If you are going to import it yourself and use say the Ferries or Channel Tunnel then you need to check which package you use. For example, the frequent traveller discount package with euro tunnel doesn't allow you to transport any goods which are not for personal use or have duty to pay.

I am in a similar position to the original poster (wanting to import alcohol from within the EU ie Italy) and am keen to get a little information about the various issues re excise duty, VAT, and so on...

Can anyone offer some brief advice beyond looking at the business link website? I have been on the site and just seem to go around and around in circles with the various links and don't seem to get anywhere!

Many thanks for any replies

We had a right laugh with this one. My OH imported a load of vintage Calvados to sell on ebay and then realised it wasn't permitted.

Oh how I wept when we were left with a case of top notch vintage Calvados to get through. :p

Seriously though, this HM Revenues & Customs link may be useful. If it is, please press my thank you button. :D

there are specialist wines & spirits freight forwarders. FFG Hillebrand and Anglo Overseas are two of many. Speak to BIFA.org they can give you forwarders who specializes in alcohol movements.

I am a customs clearance supervisor at a Felixstowe based UK Logistics Company that specialises in alcohol imports & exports.

Are you planning to buy from a cash & carry or somewhere else such as direct from a vineyard?

Are the goods you are planning to import Duty paid or under duty suspension?

Are you looking to transport the booze yourself & just need an agent to do the customs administration?
