Hi bsomers,

It's great to see young people seeing entrepreneurship as a viable option for them (we've discussed in other threads how this often isn't the case).

However, be careful not to be seduced by the idea of being an entrepreneur alone. It takes a lot of hard work and requires a real passion for what you're doing.

For some inspiration, try looking at inafishbowl.com which follows the highs, and the lows of being an entrepreneur.

If you are passionate enough about your idea then you have a good chance of success. Best of luck.

Start with Ebay and pick a range of items you can buy cheaply and sell at a small markup. Normally its better to sell something you like and know something about like hobbies etc

You can go to car boot sales and pick up small items for a couple of quid and sell them at double or triple the cost plus postage, you will soon see what sells and what doesn't

Think small as a startup you could never compete say with Halfords selling bikes but you could easily be big in selling inner tubes for bikes

Remember small items are also cheaper to post and less likely for customers to lie that they never recieved the item

    Good Luck

Let me give you another alternative you might find interesting.

I would start an information product business - its the only area growing in the current economic climate.

Money, Health and Relationships are the big three mega-niches but you can make money out of any small niche as well.

Its not a way of making money fast but its a good solid business model once you learn all the pieces of the puzzle and fit them together correctly.

As long as there are so many people searching for solutions to problems and the internet is overloaded with too much information there will always be a need for ebooks, audio/video courses, etc. in a multitude of formats.

First step would be to go through the 30 day challenge, which is free - it gives you a lot of step by step advice on setting up a niche website as a business.

I am in no way shape or form connected to this website i just think it is a great way of getting to know the internet marketing basics.

I just want something at the moment , that will bring in a good profit and help me to start something bigger when i'm older . When I am older I want to be in the property market , but I know that it is a risky industry and also extremley hard to get into , but I have the drive and will to suceed so hopefully I will be in it one day

To be honest aswell , I dont know an awfull lot about website business' , (how they are ran by credit cards e.c.t ) and thats mainly why I need alot off advice from you guy's

    Hi

It sounds as though right now your just looking for money making ideas before being able to leap into the property market when your older... have you thought about car boot sales? Maybe offer a service to friends and family, you do the work of selling their stuff and you get a cut from the profits for the time spent selling... Obviously unless you already drive then you would need to find somebody to drive for you who doesnt mind taking a smaller cut to help you out.

Or, how about gardening? A neighbour of mine does gardening for some of the houses on our road, general lawn-mowing etc. He is about 16 and charges around £20 to do the front and back of an average sized lawn which Im sure must add up by the end of the day.

A couple of ideas although I am sure that there are plenty of others. Do you have any particular hobbies or skills that you could use?

That's a really good idea cozlw - utilising existing skills and doing small things to help people out would, I'm sure, translate into some good money making tasks.

Sounds a little like the tasks they are set on The Apprentice. Not saying that show is the most true to life, but using skills and selling services often seems to work well for them.

    Good luck bsomers.

It depends on what your goal is.

Are you looking for a full-time income for years to come? Or are you at school/college and want to make some money part-time, while gaining some business experience?
