    Hello everyone,

I have a online business for many years (web design/development).

See a lot of advertising banners used on houses by builders. Tarmacing, windows etc.

It got me thinking, why not do this for my own company using my own house.

Has anyone done this, is it legal?

    Let me know.

    Thanks

Advertising on your house might require planning permission and adherence to local regulations. Check with your local council for legal requirements before proceeding.

Banners are considered by most local councils as 'temporary signage' and therefore are usually allowed to be displayed without planning on your own property or with consent from the landlord in cases of commercial property.

The real question is why wouldn't I? A low one-time cost for a permanent advertisement sounds like a good move to me.
It comes down to location, 100% worth doing if you have potential to reach your target market.

    Hello everyone,

Back again with the plan to get the ball rolling.

About 15 minutes in Photoshop and this is what I've got so far:

<edit> Removed big image; thread relates to legality of posting banners on domestic property ^Ozzy</edit>

Text is pixaled due to zooming out for the above mock-up. The black line above are below are due to my inaccurate screenshot. I am clearly not a graphic designer but the info i think I want to get out is there.

Let me guys know what you think.

@HFE Signs I will be ordering from you once I am happy with the design. Custom size of 750mm by 750mm which will go one side of a Bay Window on my house. Did have a quick question for you. As this is a largish printed banner should it be created in vector format using something like Illustrator or will Photoshop be fine done to scale?

May drop the focused on performance for the sake of less is more.

    Thanks

Have you asked your council if you need permission?

I know our insurance won't allow permanent signs on a residential property

Thanks for this, a vectored PDF would be ideal, we do check all files for resolution before we proceed anyway, so feel free to send what you have and my design team will help, thank you, really appreciate this :)
