try doing a search for free advertsing in your area and it should come up with quite a few number of free online advertising sites, such as igroup, upmystreet, uksmallbusinessdirectory.

Other than that have a look into PPC and SEO tricks and tips - lots of helpful info on here:)

Personally, I don't waste money on advertising. You are far better off working on SEO and PR, writing articles and targeting people that are interested in what you've got to say. Get on Twitter too. If it is a local website, get talking to your local newspaper - perhaps write some features on interesting things that have been auctioned recently on your site.

I agree SEO is a good way to go if you need some exposure, its a good method to get word out, people will be able to click on your site link and check it out for themselves, and if they have any questions or require more info they are able to text you back instantly thus giving you an opportunity to sell yourself and your site more effectively.

How much can you afford to spend per visitor? What's your breakeven point?

Hi,

in the past i have used a few free sites -

google (business solutions link)
gumtree
uksmallbusinessdirectory (member on here) (UKSBD)
zygela (member on here) (JOZO)
freeindex
bttradespace
streetslocal (member on here) (streetslocal)
bixbo (also member on here) (patrick888)

If you search for directories, it may be long winded but a lot of them are free and alot are paid, it just takes time and a fair bit of hard work, but it pays off!

Check out my site, blindology (cant add weblinks yet!)

I have not paid for any advertising.

If you search for blinds in Plymouth you may see>?

Hope this helps.
