Adding images to a wordpress blog

What I want is to encourage users to post pictures on a Wordpress blog, in the comments section.

eg. I start a post that says 'post your pictures here', and they comment on the post with a short comment and an image.

We've found a wordpress add on that allows this, but only by letting them link to an URL. That wouldn't work very well given the circumstances, what we really need is an option for them to browse their computer for the images and upload them.

Does anyone know of a way of doing this for a wordpress blog? or another way we could acheive the same effect?

uh, slight problem. When I tested it on your link at the time it worked ok, but now I've installed it on my website it's not working... I've tried your link again to test the images I'm trying but it looks like you removed that page.

There aren't any options in the plug-in section, it's definately activated, and the 'choose file' button displays as expected - but only the comment is accepted, the file isn't uploaded. I'm uploading jpegs, have tried several, including smallish ones in case there is a size issue.

Did you have any problems when you first installed it? Or can you put your test page back up so I can test if it's the images?

Here's my page if you want to test it:

Upload anything you like as a test, it's not being promoted yet and will require moderation anyway...

ok, it's working now. I think the problem is that it's a very old plug-in and doesn't like wordpress 3.

I noticed in the .php file it kept referring to the directory as
/wp-content/comment-image/
but in FTP I could see the directory was
/wp-content/plugins/comment-image/
- so I did a quick search and replace and hey presto, it works!

I guess wordpress 3 must have changed the default location for plug-ins...?

Works OK on WP3.4 for me. Plugins have always been in wp-content/plugins/

How did you install the plugin?

I just used the plugin manager thing and it worked straight out the box.

BTW, the setting page is located in Dashboard > Settings > Comment Image.

I'm going to have a go a making it bit more usable so you might see a new plugin appearing very soon...
