Ad Words - Is Just Using Google Enough Or ??

We are only just starting to look at ad words and starting with google

I know there are loads of companies out there that can spend away for us and maybe very successfully but we are not at that stage yet

Are there any tools/sites that are not to dear or have free limited starter accounts that we could/should use or look at to make the whole using (learning) and doing experience better/slicker/faster/more cost effective etc

A good place to start would be the adwords help pages: https://adwords.google.com/home/resources/

Spend a few evenings reading up on how it works and all the tips and you will be in a much better place to begin your campaign.

Google are certainly very helpful and if you have enough budget to run campaigns throughout the year then only these adwords would be enough to bring you good traffic to your website, if you can choose the right keywords and do some research prior to investing in adwords. For more exposure you can surely go with facebook ads and twitter ads as well.

Not sure what you mean. Improve on what? Adwords is very lucrative both for the user and for Google. I don't know of an ad network that earns me as much money.

...any sensible tools that I should look at - I cannot believe that no-one has tried to improve on the core google offering

I use Google Analytics in addition to Adwords, though I suspect I could probably get the same data elsewhere on Adwords. If you are just starting out you should not really need extra tools; if you are doing so much that you need extra help you might be trying to do too much.

Before using Adwords its important to carry out comprehensive keyword research to understand what keyword you need to target in AdWords. I have come across many PPC accounts that are just stuffed with loads of keywords and do not target the right customers for them, meaning they are wasting a lot of money.

Once you have the keyword research complete, it will be best to research as much as you can on Adwords before implementing a campaign. This will include key tasks such as how to add negative keywords onto your campaign (important to make sure you target the right keywords & audience) Another thing to research is the use for match type keywords, using this will help to dynamically target specific keywords in different ways.

There is a lot of things to pick up on and learn when it comes to AdWords and every company will deploy different techniques that work best from them. You can give Google a call if you need help receiving further information on how to optimise your campaigns further which is something we often do for clients that will give us an insight into what we are doing well and what we need to improve on.

Obviously there are many other aspects when it comes to AdWords, but these are just some things to start with, and soon you will be a pro!

Maybe I should explain better and now that I have learned a bit more

It is not me doing the on the ground ad word leg work
I am confident in the person that is doing it

Might job is partly to think about systems and down the line and so to also save time and costs by doing things in more efficient ways and maybe starting to bring in tools in advance

So here is an example
And it is possible that all of this is dealt within google adwords

We can change the wording in an ad word and with a start and end date

Now imagine if we had 1000 assorted adverts that we want to be able to try and alter
And if we think only about the postage comment that we put on

Then I would like some tool to help us control and do this so that we can alter all - or maybe only some of them - and very quickly

I could knock something in Excel pretty quickly but it would be a bit QAD - quick and dirty but good enough at a simple level
And we could then upload the data to google adverts

But I am sure that other firms have been in more need of this that I am - and so I am sure there must be tools out there where people have worked all this out to make it nice and simple and effective

There are for nearly other aspect of ecommerce - such as order management

Also imagine if we were also on Bing and want to pump out the same info to them

I think - but could be wrong - that we are then looking at a feed manager - whatever one of those is - but it is on the list to look into

I thought seeing as we are starting on the adwords to start with a tool that simplified that side of things
