About content optimization

Hi Devik,

Content Optimisation essentially is "creating great content for your website that other people want to read"

It's also the act of optimising your content (or copy, whatever you want to call it) so that search engines will rank your site better for key phrases relevant to each particular piece of content.

For example if you had a Dog Grooming site and you wrote an article about dog grooming, you might try to include the phrase "Dog Grooming" in the title of the article, in your meta tags and in the content to try and help optimise the content for the phrase "Dog Grooming". This may make the article more likely to rank in Google for that phrase.

In practice, just creating genuinely good and readable content is the best way to do this, however. Especially with social sharing becoming one of the main factors in determining where you rank in search engines.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions related to this, just give me a shout!

So much rubbish posted in one thread.

Use a dictionary. The definition of Optimise (or optimize) is pretty straightforwards.

All you have to do is make sure your content as efficient as you can make it to acheive your intended aim. Which may not be to help ranking - for example you may want to optimise for conversions.

I am new in this area.
I was wondering what content optimization means or lets say what optimization means?
Content optimization is the internet marketing technique in which we optimize our website content and add quality, fresh and relevant content with proper header tags, strong tags. Your website keyword density should not be more than 3-4%

Content creation is one thing. Content optimisation is another. However, you can potentially create content that is optimised during the creation process, if you've got sufficiently talented staff.

One might consider taking a blog post, for example, and tweaking the title, meta description, image alt/title, h1, h2, first couple of sentences, last para, bits throughout. I won't go into all the things you can do in those places, but there are a handful of things that can make a massive difference in how well it ranks, right out of the blocks after the first pass.

As a hint, use of the 'z' in optimise, might be considered optimisation.

A lot has been said about what content optimization is. So, I will skip this point.

But I would like to add to all the said above that every content optimization strategy must be closely aligned with your targeted keywords.

Hence, prior to writing your content you should decide what keywords your pages will be optimized for. It's pretty a challenge for most online marketers and copywriters, as content should be both appealing to readers and easy-to-optimize for search engines.

Check out this video - it will tell you how to optimize your content the most effective way to make your site pages relevant and search engine friendly.

But note that content optimization is not only about keyword density and prominence. When creating content for your website, make sure that it is:

  • unique;
  • frequently updated;
  • well-connected with inner links.
Hope you find these tips useful.
