To be honest, a site like MFC is a major undertaking, so you will need to have at least a few grand to spare or a few months worth of your own time to build it.

I'm putting together a quote for a client right now and to put it into context, so far I've quoted about 6 weeks worth of building (zero testing), and that's just over £5k. I suspect it will take at least another month to test and get ready for trade, clients and models, so the full quote will be somewhere around £9k, and thats just a basic estimate.

If you outsource it to a specialist with previous in cam sites, they will expect to have a budget of at least £10k to start. There are cheaper alternatives, but this type of website needs to run smoothly from the get go. Even off the shelf modules require work, so bear that in mind, also the website will require more bandwidth, so server costs may be high, and the payment functionality needs to be perfect because models don't stay if they don't get paid on time.

I hope that helps. Good luck all the same, its a big industry with a lot of money to be made.

have a look for some open source scripts.

It can be coded in anything, from php, asp, cfm etc. But you will need to ensure your host has that software installed. Most hosts do linux hosting which will be php.

You should find something pre made that will get you by.

If ive been any help can i have a free pass :)

Tnx for the heads up Baz-watkins,

I was of the same opinion as to the budget costs / timescales etc, which isn't a problem, but I do want something that I can get my teeth into a bit, as I do code a bit and was mainly curious as to what this would entail...ie: server space, live streaming / uploading user coments etc.....mmmm.

more???

I started on something like this a few years back, social networking not porn.

Developed a vb client, worked great but we couldn't achieve a decent FPS with the resources available :( Make sure you do the sums.

I wish I had pushed ahead with this, but hey isn't hindsight a great thing.

This is a huge task

1 - huge outlay of money and coding to build the main website and script

2 - The design won't be cheap

3 - where are you going to get the models from? you will need at least 10, and they will all want paying, even when times are slow during the initial few weeks, unless you have a ton of traffic from the get-go..

4 - onto traffic, where is your traffic going to come from? word of mouth alone won't be enough

5 - server costs for bandwidth are huge on web cam sites
