No one knows but google? That's not what I got.

I posted the article because it highlights the importance of building good content rather than using black hat techniques to build links.

Content is king.

To quote from the article

"The purpose here was merely to point out and demonstrate that one of the most overlooked and arguably the best thing you can do to build links is “Create unique and compelling content on your site and the web in general.” And, “When All Else Fails, Read The Directions.“

It's nothing to do with link building. Just about the only useful thing it says is to get lots of good content on the site. Duh!

Content is king.

To quote from the article

You need to be very carful when telling people that 'content is king'. I see so many people falling into the trap of believing that somehow Google judges actual content and rankings being based on the content itself rather than the links that point to it.

Yes, it's correct that good content will help to generate more natural links, but you still need a method of putting it in front of people in the first place. There is plenty of great content that goes un-noticed be search engines in favour of more average content that is promoted better.
