3 hours a week employment advice

My friend is a sole trader and does domestic cleaning, she has a helper that does 3 hours max a week on a casual basis as and when.
My friend needs to know does she have to employ her part-time and pay stamp/tax and all the employee hassle, when the hours are that small?
Any advice.

Not sure what (if any) tax would be due, but for other employment hassles, yes - employment contract, holiday pay, maternity leave, etc.

It wouldn't be worthwhile for your friend to get a decent contract drafted for this employee, but working from a template that can be found on Business Link, they could get this amended to fit the needs, or Sandra Beale (member: sjbeale) I believe has zero hour template contracts available on her site.

The employee should be requested to complete a P46, as if they have another job(s) then tax may need to be deducted.
