Ps- i have set my maximum bid exactly as written .90
and my daily budget at £5.00

Is this about right for a garden type service - i guess it all depend on my area and competion, probably just one of those things i'll have to wait and see and adjust in my campaign

Just checked and i am not in that pink area above organic listing i am at the side so i guess i should adjust my maximum bid now and try and get up there

Woah, careful. Don't just keep throwing money at it.

There's more to PPC than most people think. Obviously the placement on your ad depends quite a bit on the strength and wealth of your opposition, but you can improve your ad placement without needing to increase your budget.

Your ads have selected keywords which are each given a quality score. This depends on the relevance of the word/phrase to the page the ad goes to. So you can create highly optimised landing pages and have the adverts point to those. The quality score will be higher which means the cost can be reduced.

There is loads to learn about PPC. Far too much for me to write all in one forum post. I'd advise though that you take the time to read and understand PPC before just throwing more money at it. You will have poor conversion rates for the price you pay.

If you don't have the time to learn it, pay for someone else to handle your PPC campaigns. Feel free to PM me or e-mail me if you want to know more. If I know your web address I can take a look at your website and give you some more tailored advice.

I'd suggest you start with Google search. Partners can be a bit iffy as some of the partner sites aren't search engines and will, therefore, confuse the results you get.

2)do i choose i phones etc?

Depends on whether your site looks good on those.

3)do i use any ad extensions? eg phone, sitelinks or location

Phone and location would probably be a good idea as they emphasise that you're local to the searcher.

Does this cost at all?

No.

Could i set a really low cpc and then just click my ad loads of times to improve quality score?

Maybe. Even if this was possible (assuming Google doesn't think you're someone committing click fraud and ignores the clicks), there's still a limit of 10/10.

i.e. It's only going to take you so high. Which means you can only go so low in your bidding if you want in the top 3 positions.

DON'T DO IT!!! I cannot stress this enough, Google will know that you have been clicking the link several times and will block your account. As far as I am aware they will never make it active again, plus they will permanently ban your sites email extension from setting up any new accounts.

ye be warned! :)

I was just thinking whether to do this or not what would the advantage of doing this be?

For a local company looking for local visitors, Google Places would allow you to really shout about your products/services. You also link it to your Adwords account so visitors can see your location.

To verify, sign in to Google Places with the email address you use for Adwords and follow the steps. Verification is by an automated phone call, which gives you a 5 digit code to enter.

Usually you are live within 24 hours.

Is it wise to do a weekly bid check-

    1 Search your keyword
2 If you don't appear high enough increase your bid
3 Search again 20 minutes later
4 either you are in a higher place or you further increase your bid until you reach the spot you want
