20ft Container From China

Is anyone importing full containers from China. I'm looking to import a 20 ft container from Shanghai to UK. I've been quoted just over £2000 for one which includes import fees and handling. Duty, VAT and road transport is on top of that. Just wondering if the shipping price is about normal.

    Hi

Sounds a bit excessive to me.

Freight cost from Shanghai / Ningbo to Felixstowe for a 20ft container is just under GBP1000.

I am sure you can get a forwarder to clear the container for less than what you have been quoted.

Which city is the container to be delivered to in the UK?

If you require any help regarding this matter, or in general China trading or shipping, please send me a PM and I will make enquiries for you to get you the best quotes.

    Regards

    Hello.

Getting a quote in £ means that your supplier is taking the risk on exchange rates. Container freight rates are quoted in $. Suggest you get a quote direct from a UK based freighter for comparison.

How do you guys know the cost is excessive? Do you know what the duty & VAT charges are?

Search for my previous posts about recent shipping costs from China for an indication of teh sea fright. Only the OP can then calculate if it is excessive.

If you read the original post correctly.............Duty, VAT and road transport is on top of that.

    It is excessive.

I regularly ship over 10 containers worldwide on a weekly basis.

I am in touch with all the shipping lines to get weekly updates of their costs.

I think I know my business.

    Happy Xmas

I can get you a price for a 20ft from Shanghai which will come in cheaper than what you have there, please email me on [email protected] and I'll work you out a rate to door. Obviously it will exclude duty / VAT and any exam fees should there be any if customs pull the box. But even so I can indicate what the fees would be.

P.S. Darshan, thanks for the recommendation :)

Have you looked at consolidating your cargo with another company and share the costs? I work with several manufacturers who use this method. It gets delivered to the port where the shipment is split and divided by the forwarders.

Get in touch if you want to explore this option.

    Thanks

When discussing shipping prices, forget duty & VAT - they are controlled by the price of the goods, so useless when comparing (or moaning!!!).

check the fee from the freight forwarder of China,Maybe it will be cheaper,But be careful for the hidden cost

Here is Soros Chen from guangzhou,China. Who work for several importers from Euro as their trading agent, Just like their “eyes” and “ears” in China.
