Are there any laws to say you have to be over 18 to run a business?
Why do young people feel the need to mention their age when they make threads about completely different subjects? You don't see other say 'Hello. I'm 42, and I'd like some advice about my Adwords campaign'.
It baffles me because almost every young person I've seen on this forum does it.

But in some I honestly think younger people have better and more ideas, it just having the desire to go through with it.
Over 16 for a limited company. Although until 2005, there was no age limit - in fact, as far as I remember, you didn't even have to be human, I think some people made their dog a company director! Are there any laws to say you have to be over 18 to run a business?
Scared of competition?unfortunatly not. I blame the "young enterprise scheme"
I agree in most situations, but money plays a big part.
I have a ton of ideas every day - I write them all down in my notepad and hopefully will persue them in the years to come.
You might be asking: why in years to come? Because of capital! 'us' young people don't have a lot of money. Yes you can borrow from parents, relatives, friends etc. But for most projects £thousands are needed.
Having said that, you have to start somewhere and I know it can be done on limited funds.
Competely agree with everything you said though, and goodluck phone trader.
Hi Oliver,
I totally agree with you. Find a way of raising it though, get a part time job do whatever you can because you clearly have the ideas.
Luckily, I work full time and have saved some money now which I will be putting into a business, with me I dont have the ideas! It's all about what you want and your goals. Don't let anything get in the way of achieving your goals!

Bit of a biased sample though, tbh, since it's only the people who announce it you're basing it onPraise lol.
They love all the fuss and attention. They think that because they're 15-17 they'll get loads of praise and 'wow! this guy runs a business and hes 15!', 'well done', 'congratulations', 'you'll defo do well because my my, you have so much ambition yet you're only 15' and 'blah, blah, blah'....lol
PS
Please don't be too harsh...I'm only 25!

Exactly the mindset I'm trying to adopt!
Personally, I started with ~£60, and eventually took a decent sized lump of cash out of my uni fund (may as well since Uni doesn't seem to be on the cards with the way the fees are heading at the moment, eh!)
'Don't let anything get in the way of achieving your goals!' - couldn't have put it better myself!

Scared of competition?
.
What should be changed isn't the age that someone can start a business, but the age of consent. You have criminal responsibility at the age of 12, why shouldn't you be able to sign contracts?would be a problem getting regulatory approval under the age of consent, however seen as any old smuck can call themselves a web designer .......
And what's your problem? What's your business, since you seem to never mention it, only badmouth other peoples?
Ok, searched "alarm" for posts by you, still can't find anything. Mind posting your business name?simple forum search - buttons up that way
I own the regions premier approved alarm company, employ less than 5 people to keep things "simple" and am desperatly trying to find a way not to get hit with the high earner tax.
And no, I don`t need a cheap website.
