If a global company like Shell can claim millions of customers are on 100% renewable energy, why can’t they share the secret so the rest of the planet can stop being brainwashed (taxed) about global warming?

It's amazing how many idiots fall for this greenwash.

I'd like to know who regulates all the companies running carbon offset schemes and the like. I'll bet there's no accountability whatsoever, and the same goes for these '100% green energy' companies.

It's logically impossible yet people swallow it hook line and sinker. It gets worse than that though. Given the lack of oversight, I reckon there's a very good chance that these schemes are oversubsribed to say the least. I'd love to see a breakdown of the numbers paying for these tarrifs. What percentage of customers think they are getting 100% green energy vs what percentage of the UK's energy green energy is actually green.

The fact is there will always be a need for fossil fuels as renewables only provide electricity. Electricity accounts for only 20% of our energy which includes nuclear so there is a huge gap to fill until we are fossil fuel free. Energy is the world's biggest challenge going forward together with mining of a finite amount of precious metals and materials.

At least someone's been caught out:

Back to the original question. There is no such thing as 100% renewable energy. Whatever you use requires infrastructure. The manufacture, delivery and installation of any renewable system uses a huge number of resources - most of which is not Eco-friendly.

Yes but compared to "traditional" energy that cancels out.
When you look a whole life costs how much really cancels out?
