10 inch tablet

No need for 3G

Not Apple
Must have androide 4.2 min

Spend not more than about £320 ish

samsung galaxy tab 2 10", it's around £200 ish from UK stores (I paid £225 in Tesco) maybe slightly cheaper on Amazon / ebay etc

runs android 4.1.1 by default (mine does) but samsung are updating their devices so 4.2 should be available soon (my dad's galaxy phone got the update this week).

I got the Novatech on Android 4.1 and am very happy with it. They are £144 (but keep an eye out, I got an unmarked 'Shop soiled' one for £70)

Edit: apart from I didn't read the bit where you said it must have a microsd slot - so scratch my recommendation as it doesn't have one.

Out of interest what do you need the sd card for? I only ask as I can't think of many things which can't be achieved by transferring data to the tablet over wifi.

Many thanks to all, I went ahead and got the Samsung 10" Note which seems reasonably futureproof for the time being, though a bit pricey.

SD card is just the same as any other portable disk just smaller. will fit with adapter into most desktops or notebooks and also camera's so quite usefull and up to 64 gig

Windows 8 seems a bit of a risk if it will be big in tablets and dont like the "do it my way" attitude of Apple, so a bit limited in choice

Basically about £20 extra for the s pen will have to find out if its going to be of much use as not a games player of fashion designer type person
