Does anyone use a LinkedIn 'hub' to promote posts?

I've been told about LinkedIn 'hubs', smallish groups of 15-20 like-minded, same-industry people who you group together to promote each others posts to get noticed by the LinkedIn algorithms. I can see this working with some people on my LinkedIn feed but don't know how to do it myself.

To make it clear, these are not LinkedIn Groups. They are something different.

Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks.

What is you end goal? Is it just so your profile/posts get noticed or are you hoping to get more leads?

Either way, ask yourself this question: how often do you use the services of other LinkedIn memebers? If the answer is not very often (or not at all) then why do you think LinkedIn is going to help your business?

I used my LinkedIn primarily to allow contacted prospects to get additional information about me and my company in addition to looking at my website.
I think the chances of me getting a prospect from LinkedIn is pretty slim but I've never tried it tactically like this before. I have relevant content to post in relevant forums and groups but I know that my posts are hardly ever seen because LinkedIn squeezes me out for content that has multiple likes and comments, and as we all know, the default setting for viewing 'top' posts rather than 'recent' posts exacerbates this.

I have a specific target audience - Finance Directors of med sized companies of 100 to 300 employees.
My connections are old, current and prospective clients, I'm expecting the the content I post to be seen by them and trigger further engagement and conversation to get contracted. They won't see my post if I don't have likes and comments that the algorithms will pick up.

@hikiwari read this thread of yours again:

I really wouldn't bother with hubs.

I get pretty good value from LinkedIn - pretty much never in the way of direct 'leads' from a customer - I tend to engage and connect with conduits to market - Suppliers/advisors/other types of funding provider.

Interestingly, the people I get business from seldom or never actually interact with my content.

I know two people who tried it and achieved nothing. It became a backslapping exercise, everyone in the hub all congratulating each other. Anyone looking from the outside could spot the pattern.

The LinkedIn algo isn’t the best but it’s looking for positive engagement not just a bunch of ‘great post’ type comments.

What does make a difference is regular and consistent posts. Lots of case studies works - telling stories to demonstrate expertise. That will get you noticed. But even then, it only works for a very small percentage of members.

Yes I agree with that generally and understand why you're saying it, but I don't think many people would compare the likers and comment writers and spot the pattern. If the fellow members of the hub are like-minded, same-industry then it won't be a simple back slapping exercise.

I understand and get your cynicism. Hopefully I'll hear from other LinkedIn users who have benefitted from a hub. Thanks anyway.

It’s not cynicism, there just isn’t any real benefit to doing this. It’s an old marketing concept that has been around since before the internet and was sold to local traders as a great way to get new business. Except it didn’t.

If you want to join a hub you will be made welcome and get a real feel good factor. But a year down the road you will still be wondering when you will reap the benefits.

I’ve never used it because LinkedIn doesn’t work for my business. The people I know who have tried it both have £1M+ businesses. But as you say, it might work for you. What do you do?
