Thanks OldWelshGuy - I know about the powers that Customs has and you make a good point there!
I don't intend to do anything wrong at all - let alone something that would interest them to that extent! When the co grows and I get premises I'll shift the reg'd address to there, in the meantime...
Thanks for that James. I thought that those were the reasons, and none is an issue. My address is already on the website.
It's an interesting point about using a more professional looking address. I think that's up for discussion. I prefer to see small companies using their real address rather...
When I created a Ltd co the accountant that I used registered it at their premises. I believe that this is fairly standard practice. I don't use that firm anymore so I need to change the registered address.
I trade from home (it's ecommerce only so no customers visit) and that's the address...
I use Toumaziandco dot co dot uk. They are very helpful, also have in house pattern cutting, though sounds as though you don't need that.
They made all the garments on my website. All contact details are on their website and I can say that everything they claim on the website is true!

OK so what's the website address then?
I've just found this thread and found thatI was conned. I thought they had just gone out of business. Luckily it was only £250, but I'd like to add my name to any website complaining about him.
I would have thought that sending your customer an electronic invoice by email and then allowing them to pay online or via bank transfer would look more professional. The better online accounting packages have this feature.
Have a look at kashflow.com
There is also the Forum of Private Business fpb.org -they providehelp/advice/assistance as well as good deals on products and services.
Depending on what industry you are in there will be other appropriate organisations that can represent your interests. Anf of course again depending on your...
If we assume that you mean full garments as opposed to small (underwear type) garments, then I would say hanging with plastic or other cover over them. You need to protect from dust and light. Storing them in plastic boxes will crease them. It's not a good idea to iron garments immediatley...
well now it's funny you should say that. See my blog about ecomm insurance
blog.shortcouture.com/selling-on-the-internet.html

Business Insurance covers many things. If you sell products you will want to cover your stock against fire, flood, theft etc.
Product liability covers you if anyone injures themself with your product - this tends to come as part of any business policy.
If yoiu sell services then you need...
