Why would you think WooCommerce is a step backwards? You can easily setup products as "Grouped products" or "Variable products" to create bundles without the need for any plugins, stock control included. WordPress is an enterprise-level solution fully adopted by big brands.- LucyTex

Duplicate Content would it effect market based websites?
Yes Google is smart enough to detect duplicate content and if you just copy other peoples descriptions why should Google rank your website instead of anyone else's (including the original author). If you write your own content you will have a huge SEO advantage.- LucyTex
