"Offline" UK Businesses encouraged online with use of free website & own domain name

It's amazing such a huge corp like Google are flawed in their GoogleSites concept isn;t it???! Saying that I havn't actually tried it, but from examples I've seen from disgruntled users it seems to be a right pain.

HAHAHAHA, good one that - currently in the lead for the digestives ;) Anyone else got any types of business (now that Bin Laden ltd has been suggested) that wouldn't benefit from having a website?

"Offline" UK Businesses encouraged online with use of free website & own domain name

Yes, I actually first became aware of GBBO when looking for a simple website builder and then decided to check out some review. I'm def not any techie, but read some pretty foul stuff about the google servive- which really amazed me being such a huge company- and everyone seemed to be saying...

Agree it's not a massive amount of time to fully establish a website, but I'm not sure that's the aim of their campaign judging from what they mentioned in their newsletter - they seem to be encouraging businesses who have never had a website, (I guess because they feel it's too complex to do or...

"Offline" UK Businesses encouraged online with use of free website & own domain name

Hey folks, I use a website builder called Wizz-It for a couple of my websites I have for various bits and bobs I work with and I've been really happy with them, mainly because I'm certainly no techie and basically was looking for something cheap, non-flashy and easy enough for me to use whilst...

GBBO - any positives / successes?

interesting thread this. It's a shame to see a government initiative fail so miserably, and as others in this thread have mentioned, with "support" (as businessmen and businesswomen we all get what that means....) from such big players in their own respective fields. I guess it just goes...

    Website Builder

I've paid some web-designer to build some sites for around £250, and I've gone through a few of them. Trouble is, once that site is customised from a template to meet your neds you still have to learn how to handle the backend and troubleshoot problems (like malware always coming in through...

What is the craziest business idea you have come across ?

Had an idea for a replacement brain last night during a dream, kinda like a back-up in the shape of an external heard-drive. havn't gone through the figures yet...but could be a winner ;)

How to write first email to attract new customers

just a quick post to say these answers are all really valid, no need for me to really add much more. if you REALLY can't find people's name, then add their company name into the email, mention something you like about their website - so they at least know you have bothered to look at them for...

    Webdesign

hmm I disagree myself ^ A website is so much more than just part of your website - it IS your business these days. It's where if you own a shop, your customers or potential customers can find out about you or buy products when you're not available - think of it as an open 24 hour business...

I have an ethical problem with the company I work for...?

I don't see the big deal myself - price comparison marketing happens all the time and companies should be used to doing it and having it done to them. Don;t see it as unethical either, but appreciate your honesty in posting your thoughts Fozz
