Who uses Twitter?

As per the title, facebook is great for us as we have over 2000 "friends" to tell what new products we have, any competitions we're doing etc, we even have joke days where we get people to send in jokes on a certain subject. But despite registering on twitter I can not work out how it will help my business.

I've just launched a website, it's only a EKM Powershop one and it is fully operational and to be fair we've had a few orders despite the fact we've still a lot off work to do on it. I was wondering how I would go about driving traffic to it via twitter and hopefully local people to my shop itself.

Twitter, is a wonderfully powerful tool, for pushing out quick and fast blasts of news including links back to your sites, information and products.

It is a fantastic tool, that if used right can have wonderful results for you and your business.

I use Twitter and try and set and hour a day (usually staggared) to tweet and retweet relevent items.

It can be very time cinsuming but I can see the potential to attract attention and is less labout intensive and wishy-washy than facebook seems to be. IMO

TweetDeck lets you create and stagger your tweets so you could set your tweets up in the morning or whenever it is convenient so your tweets will be released when you want.

I don't understand what the purpose of tweetdeck is. I have seen it but never spent time to read to much into it.

Is it worthwhile looking into?
I use it on the PC - much better than the web client (although it has improved recently).

You can also check multiple accounts and searches all on the same screen as well as follow conversations etc.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but worth a go.

I agree it takes some getting used to you just have to work at it. It's great if you have a few Twitter id's but just remember in TweetDeck which one is supposed to be doing your particular Tweet!

I prefer Hootsuite to Tweetdeck but they both do pretty much the same things. With either system you can watch various lists, keywords or trending topics at the same time - much easier if you're following a large number of people or want to make sure you don't miss anything.

Twitter is basically just a huge, global chat room where you can hang around with your own friends, or chat with people you may never otherwise had come across. Great for networking, also good for building a good relationship with your customers (depending on your target audience).

I read a quote recently:
"Facebook is for friends you once had but wouldn't want to spend time with; Twitter is for the friends you should have and LinkedIn's for lawyers. "
It sums it up nicely :)

@CaterersGuild is my twitter ID. Love you to add me. :O)

I love your name, your site and I am particularly interested in your candy buffets for events, this is a new one on me but I guess you could be classed as a caterer although never I sector of the industry I would have thought of.

Oh well, we learn something every day, good idea though. :O)

Thanks, the shop is named after my great grandmother Fanny Beartrice Adams, who lived 1/2 a mile from our 1st shop in wordsley, as for the site I would have liked to have had one designed from the bottom up but funds dictated otherwise, it's been up a week now and although not fully complete it's doing ok.

The candy buffets are an idea I stole:eek: off another website, we've done them for friends and family but it's not something I've really promoted yet, other things keep getting in the way...

I have just PMed you :)

Also are you serious about how you got the name or are you winding me up??? Obviously I thought because of the old "Sweet (F)anny (A)dams" thing being a bit naughty and fitting nicely with selling sweets.

Forgive me if I am being dense. :(
