Wondered if any here had thoughts on this - saw this on techcrunch http://seedrs.com and figured it might float some boats here, both for businesses and for investors (I don't work for them, honest!). I quite like the idea of having a share or two in someone else's business while I work on my...
It seems like a job that's not going anywhere at least - people are going to have electrics in 40 years, they're going to have running water, and one's going to pour in and mess up the other :)
Tip - if sign up to a service like mailchimp.com (there are loads of others, that's just the one we use), you can send out two titles, each to half your list. Then you'll be able to see from their sneaky data which one got the higher open and clickthrough rate!
A slightly weird thing here is that the designer/developer is often asking to be paid, not just for their work in creating the site, but also for educating the client. When I did this kind of work, it often went like this:
Me: What's your budget?
Them: £200
Me: Ok, I'll build it off a...
Just seconding the Highrise recommendation here. We find it absolutely amazing to use and so so useful. I don't work for them, honest - just a total evangelist!
Could you do any sort of rough quote? Like, if we wanted a kickstarter or similar, approximately how much would it be? As I say, we're not actively looking right now, but it'd be a good number to know.
I wasn't giving that as a sensible search term - I just included the guy's name so it'd be nearer the top of the listings, so people could see an example of a landing page.
I like OWG's advice once again :)
(Just to protect this discussion from meandering - what I'm really asking is: "does there come a point, after I add 'your iguana - in safe hands!' where google/bing punish the listing for cats and dogs?". If so, how do I start thinking about when to stop?)
Busyvids - well, a landing is anywhere people can arrive, as I understand it? For instance, a search expert I read (I'm not a spambot, honest!) runs a site called 'appointment reminder'. Try googling 'appointment reminder patrick hair salon' and you'll arrive at a page which tells you about the...
How much does this kind of service cost? We're always made our own up to now, but it takes a day or so, and naturally pros could do it a lot more smoothly, so if a 2-3 minute affair were in the hundreds, it'd be good to know.
(Don't have any pressing need at the moment, but would be a useful...
Like many tech people, I don't much like having employees without equity - if someone prefers extra cash to a stake in the success of the company it's a big red flag to me!
Other industries might be different, but it made sense to me...
OldWelshGuy - that seems a surprise to me! In my (admittedly ridiculous) example, there's no way the peacocks stuff would belong on any mainstream page. Rather, you'd want a whole load of stuff about "drooping feathers" and "cracked eggs" and so forth - people who searched for 'peacock vet'...
If you've never been this stressed before, it seems likely that it'd be the stress? If you have been this stressed before, but didn't vomit, then it's probably medical.
Suppose I were an online vet (I'm not exactly sure how this would work, but go along with me here...). My site offers extremely good pet care. Pet care! Care for pets! Your pet - in safe hands! And so on.
I imagine I'd likely want landing pages for search terms like 'sick cat', so I'd make...
