Looking for an online CRM

I hope I have posted this in the right place ...

I am looking for an online CRM for both a customer of mine and myself.

Ideally I would like to gather contact details from a website, enter details collected at shows and events, segment these records depending on their interest, then email them with useful info and offers and track their response (did they open the email, did they click on the link, did they browse the website and so on). There is no online selling at the moment - if they are interested their call the action would be a phone call to place an order. Also would like to open the prospect or customers details and see what they have received in terms of emails etc.

I've looked at Infusionsoft which I think would be a sledgehammer to crack a nut and has more functionality than we need. I've been playing around with first Aweber and then Mailchimp (which I quite like), but these tend to just manage the list and there is no opportunity to grow it into a full CRM.

Someone has mentioned Zoho and Capsule which I looked at quickly, but I am fast becoming confused with the choice!

Any recommendations? What do YOU use?

No, I don't mind you asking Jody.

My customer is fairly new to this sort of thing, so I was hoping to start at the low end, but I know if he sees results he would be happy to invest more as his database grows. Most of the systems seem to have an entry level, with room to grow as it takes off.

So far I've seen everything from free to very expensive. For example Infusionsoft starts at $199 but has a number of features he doesn't need.

Hope this answers the question.

You could probably use several CRM systems for this - including the Capsule and Zoho systems you mentioned. All come with a basic CRM capability, and it is then a matter of configuring them to deal with the types of enquiries you wish to handle. This includes taking inputs from a website enquiry. Generally if you wish to track whether people open and read emails, you'll need to use an email marketing tool.
