Donating to charity via a Ltd company - corporation tax relief given on full amount

Thanks Mike, yes, due to the potential for abuse it is absolutely right that HMRC scrutinise this area ao accurate records are a must. It is nice to see a tax policy like this out there.

Donating to charity via a Ltd company - corporation tax relief given on full amount

I found out about this recently and am very impressed about how generous and simple it appears to be. In summary, a Ltd company can make a donation to charity and the full amout of the donation is taken off their pre-tax profits for the CT calculation...

    The MP's 10%

I understand perfectly the relationship between pre and post tax pay. I was specifically referring to take home pay: Take-home pay noun the pay received by an employee after the deduction of taxes and other obligations. I was suggesting that they could donate the extra money they recieved...

    The MP's 10%

Hi Scott, they won't earn less after the 10% increase because although they will pay more tax, their take home pay will still be higher than it was before. The MP's who are on record as being outraged at receiving this pay rise could donate this extra take home pay to charity if they wanted to...

    The MP's 10%

Why don't the MP's who are on record as saying that they didn't want this pay rise, donate the extra 10% pay to charity? Perhaps this should be suggested to them as I don't see an easy way for them to think up a decent reason as to why they aren't doing just that...

    Rugby

Tonight's game... oh dear. England's attacking and defensive lines were pretty much identical (Flat with gaps everywhere), as apposed to Oz's line which was spirit-level straight in defence and agressively angled when attacking. Schoolboy stuff really and Australia deserved the win.

    Britain owes India big time.

Perhaps you should spend your energy on promoting solutions (As I did in the second half of my post, which you chose to ignore) rather than concentrate on what our ancesters may or may not have done wring before we were born. I also have compassion for people in the world who are worse off than...

    Britain owes India big time.

If you want to feel guilty for things that you didn't do, that is your perogative. But feeling guilty and paying compensation are very different. We simply cannot pay compensation for things that happened in the past. My chicken example simply demonstrates how silly and unworkable this kind of...

Which accounting system (UK) do you use?

I stand corrected David. And I feel your pain. :)

    Britain owes India big time.

So if it is established that in 1653 your ancester Gregory Earle stole a chicken from his neighbour, should you pay compensation to the 16200 surviving ancestors of the stolen chicken's owners?

What would you pay to have Windows XP again?

Hi Ian, Vista annoyed me with internet /wifi connection issues. Windows 8: I am writing on my laptop that has this that has narrowly avoided being thrown out of a fourth floor window on countless occasions due to it's incredibly annoying tendency to swipe to the start screen. Sooooo...

Which accounting system (UK) do you use?

I have used SAGE and nearly committed suicide as a result (Ok, a slight exaggeration but my face does contort every time I hear or see the word SAGE). Quickbooks was much better. By far the best for me, without a shadow of a doubt, is Kashflow). I have never looked back since stumbling across...

What would you pay to have Windows XP again?

All my recent computers have been ruined to a greater or lesser extent by the silly operating systems that Microsoft has been producing. I have come to the conclusion that I would be happy to pay £50 to downgrade and have good old Windows XP. Is anyone else on the same wavelength? If so, what...
