Faulty Item bought on ebay

I hope this is the correct forum.
I have been an Ebay member for 11 years, and use it to buy items formy business on a regular basis.

I purchased an item for £1200 recently.Then, for a reason I don't understnd, Ebay have suspended my account.I called them to discuss why, but they point blank refuse to discuss it.I genuinely have no idea what I'm supposed to have done wrong.

My issue is the item is faulty, but I can't return it via ebay because of the account suspension. Ebay refused to give the seller's details.
I can't see how this can be legal.Why should I suffer a big loss on a faulty item becuae they decided to close my account?

Is it possible to sue Ebay? has anyone tried it?

Use the online money claim service against the PayPal London office.

As an aside, were you using a personal or business paypal account? If the former that could be the reason for the suspension.

Also, if you paid via credit card you could instigate a chargeback for receiving a faulty item otherwise yes use PayPal's dispute process.

Dont use chargeback . Go for Section 75 . And hope that the seller you bought it from was registered as a business on ebay .

I must disagree with you on that as I had had a section 75 payment refunded to me that was fully for business use , and it was in US $ .
The problems you may have are if your seller was trading as a private seller , both chargeback and Section 75 could be refused . Also as your payment goes to ebay first , rather than the buyer , chargeback and section 75's have been refused in the past .
If you want to know why your account has been closed , try a subject access request , ebay ignores them most times , but you might get lucky first time . If you want to message me your ebay sellers name I might be able to trace them .

I do know that you have to give ebay permission to raid your bank account , just not sure if you can actually pay by bank transfer . Most buyers these days use a credit card or a topup payment to PayPal .

We were talking about Paypal topup (which does allow bank transfers), not eBay purchases. So, no evidence then

Moreover, eBay now do their best to encourage you to use their payment system, which does include bank transfer.

Whether PayPal is covered by section 75 depends exactly how PayPal was involved in the transaction. Logged into a PayPal account and using your balance is not covered. Accessing PayPal merely as the vendor's credit card payment processor (not logged in) is covered.

It's all moot as the OP did not specify how he paid and hasn't been back to tell us.
