Aura - General advice needed for a fashion startup

Afternoon everyone,

I have ventured into fashion space and opened up a ecommerce website partnering with my brothers. My sister in law has studied fashion and we have used her expertise to design and tailor women specific formal clothing. Our designs are very cultural and we have added a mix of eastern culture with a touch of persian designs in our products.

Whilst the designs and manufacturing has happened in Middle East I have plans to sell this in the UK. Given there is a large representation of Asian ethnic people spread across the UK and from little we know that well made cultural formal clothes are desired in here then it makes sense to tend to this market hence this venture.

We have started small but we have put quality at the forefront of everything we have done so far. You would be able to say the same once you look at our collection which is now available at the link below. From logistics to designing to having a delivery facility in place we have tendered each of those by now.

At this stage of our start up we would like to get more understanding and suggestions as to how we can penetrate the market across the UK and Europe. For all we know that a market exists which is quite blatantly the truth. However I need a focused approach as to how we can penetrate and reach out to the market out there. I understand social media is at the fingertips of most of shoppers so we are looking into that however any suggestions would be super helpful as I need to get this done right from the get go.

Looks great, for the website and sizing, I think that needs further detail. Small, Medium and Large could pose an issue when buying online. Have a look at the way Sports Direct provide a size guide to overcome hesitant and incorrect purchase decisions.

I do not know much about clothing, but I know GymShark brand was catapulted into the major leagues quickly, using social media and utilising influencers who wore their clothing.

Whilst those designs are perhaps aimed at ethnic people, I would be a bit riskier and get some non-ethnics wearing them too, also that Polka dot jacket, that could be sold on its own for example, and appeal to a much wider female audience, same with that Laurel stitch blouse, could be sold to a wider audience and not include the saree.

As you can see there the we are targeting a set audience where we believe a niche of market exists and would like to penetrate that given market. The problem of focusing on wider audience with our current designs is difficult as the competition for formal or smart women wear is very intense in ecommerce sector. With our designs and tailoring all being done intrinsically by us it would be super difficult for us to match the prices of sharks in the market hence for now being a startup we would stick with our niche audience.
