    Hi there,

someone I know is looking to ditch there landline (they have another service for there internet) and want a voip phone system with 3 cordless handsets in there home office/property.

Ring central seem very good but quite expensive, the same with Nextiva. These options seem better for larger companies?

Can anyone recommend a good, reputable company? Ringcentral wants over £300 for the 3 handsets. The three handsets are to be spaced out through the property and won't have different users, i'm aware each phone will need a it's own license though?

    Thanks in advance

No, you can use 1 VOIP connection. Take a look at the Gigaset handsets. You can have 3 that are registered to one VOIP base station and use whichever is nearest to make or receive a call..

As regards service providers choose one that is a member of ITSPA. That gives you some guarantees on continuity of service should your chosen provider fall by the wayside.

For many years I have used Voipfone. Cheap, reliable and excellent support. Their CEO is a member of this forum.

Ozzy we currently use your services with a single SNOM handset in our office.

We are actually paying for 3 extensions but we've never really utilised it as we just go to the SNOM, what is the cheapest method to utilise the extensions? Do we pay for call forwarding to the mobiles/laptops with the app?

Or would we be better with a gigaset base station and individual handsets? I need to make my Office more productive

As my staff also have free minutes on their mobiles they tend to use their mobile to make outgoing calls. Do you have any suggestions for utilising outgoing calls?

    Thanks

I use Voipfone with an adapter that is plugged in to the router and my previous landline Panasonic phones are plugged into that so I have my 4 phones dotted around the house and can be used just as normal landlines.

It costs £24 to port your number to them or you can pick a new number then £3.60 a month for the number.

    Calling packages are available.

It has been solid for my small business over this past year with the exception of a major DDoS attack they had last September - which was as big an attack as even Google and Facebook would struggle to deal with. They have put in mitigations against this now.

Customer support is first class and you can also use their Softfone app if you are out and about.

All roofs by @estwig are fabulous roofs. They come with the highest quality of tile or thatch, and are perfect for all types of establishment. From your country cottage to your town centre apartments.

    How's that for a pitch?

As long as your chosen VoIP provider isn't planning on locking you in to a particular brand or model, you may be able to find some cheaper bundle options, such as Grandstream DP720 handsets and DP750 base unit, if you shop around. It should then be a case of adding the user credentials to the base station/handset which your provider should be able to assist with.

If you use Gigaset or similar with three handsets but all the phones on one account, be aware that only one phone can be used at anyone time. So this solution works if you are just looking to answer the odd call.
If however you need each phone to act independently then you will need an account per phone.
Softphones are great if you have staff set at PC’s all day, or each person has one on their mobile, but if it’s a case that whoever has a spare hand grabs the phone, then physical phones will be best.
Cordless VoIP phones can start from £60 all the way up to £400+. Ring Central are not really setup to tailor make a solution for you, so I suggest looking for a local vendor who will make sure you have everything you need in place and will work with your budget.

My voip service went up and up in cost, twice I complained and twice a small reduction. eventually as I was using it - all it was doing was transferring my old land line calls to my mobile and the price was silly. They offered a price reduction, but still way above the random two prices I found while on the phone to them. I moved. They then sent me an invoice for cancellation and 6 months fees (since the last reduction started the contract again). eventually, they cancelled the invoice after my trustpilot review.

Stuck with my mobile phone in the end being a one man band.

Occasionally putting my phone on do not disturb allowing only family contacts through.
This might be for you if/when we do it
