My Global site tag seems to be working and has been recording some days. I have set up the specific tag on a page to register a conversion when someone lands on the page. However, the conversions we seem to be receiving are way higher than possible but too low to indicate that its registering every website viewer as a conversion.

Has anyone had any issue like this before?

That's a bit unclear. Do you mean that you've set up the global tag on every page (or most of them) and an event tag only on the page you wish to count as a conversion?

Yes sorry for the confusion. This is exactly what I mean.

And is the page with the conversion event tag on a page which can be visited multiple times in one session) or is it on a page like a 'thank you' page which is only available after the visitor had performed a conversion action (like submitted a contact form, downloaded a PDF)?

It's set up to track a conversion when someone lands on the "thank you" page.

When you analyse the visitors to this page, are they all different? Is there a pattern to the IP address or device? Are you for example getting repeat visitors?

No, they're all individual. When I look into the details of which pages were getting the conversions from it looks like they're just tracking each individual user as a conversion. I've checked the code for each page and I'm certain the Event Code is only on the thank you page. I'm not too sure where its going wrong.

Well if you're talking about BCP Software, I noticed that the conversion event snippet appeared on several pages - maybe all of them (eg. About Page) - NOT just the 'thank you' page.
