Can Anyone Recommend Fast Web Hosting for Wordpress?

Hi all, my hosting account with Siteground is coming up for renewal after 3 years of new customer prices (£8.95 locked in for 3 years) however it's soon coming to an end

Can anyone recommend a WordPress host with fast load times etc that's not too expensive?

Prefer hosting to be in the UK as my websites are targeting the UK

Siteground want £25 a month.....

You can get a VPS for £10/month that would be easily enough for most small business sites and some of them have one click Wordpress installs. You do have to run updates etc. but overall its probably faster (and better isolated from other people causing performance issues) and more secure.

Go for SSD Server hosting with companies having wordpress optimized server to improve website performance over other normal servers, server with litespeed also improves speed and performance. Managed wordpress hosting provider should be good.

There are plenty of suggestions in the thread.

If you want really good fast hosting don’t use a shared server. Pay more and you will get better performance.

What's your real name? Why are you pretending to be from the UK?

@Sophie Leonard as @fisicx says there is sufficient advice in the thread. He has had two offers from hosts, one specific recommendation, one more generic one (mine, which I would make more specific if he asked - its pointless being more specific if its not what he wants).

I also think telling him whom to avoid is useful. If you avoid large hosts that are well known to be bad it hugely increases your chance of finding a good one.

It depends really on what exactly are you looking for. I can say that I am using VPS and for the low price I pay actually gives me a lot. Minus is, for now, space, but yet it gives more than others for the same price and bigger space but less from everything else.... I changed from ifastnet ( not bad too ) to coolicehost.com. They have EU based servers and the USA. For now with the traffic I have is dealing pretty good, fast connection. Perfect for WP, because it is LiteSpeed too, varnish etc... I am happy. I found it accidentally otherways had no idea there is such a hosting company. I am using the cheap VPS for £4,61. I was hosting at first about 14 websites. Now i have 6 but with more traffic I close1 most of the websites down 10 are on Wordpress

There is a way to host website on Google or Amazon cloud.
pros:

• Google/Amazon services are working fast around the globe
• If Hosted on Google cloud some people say: website is better indexed/ranked in search results

cons:

• It may be difficult to start the project if you haven't got programming knowledge (you may need to hire someone). Future maintenance as well.
  
• Not cheap solution, but you get what you pay for. (Google cloud hosting starts from 45$ a month, Amazon from 77$ a month)

@Haimen anyone recommending Hostgator or any other EIG owned web host as a fast host is clueless. Its cheap rubbish hosting with good marketing and a large established customer base.

@moneyroad, actually AWS lightsail starts at $3.50 a month, roughly in line with other VPS pricing. I assume the OP wanted shared hosting as he did not indicate any interest in a VPS, and the AWS and Google solutions are more work to implement than a simple VPS.

Cheap is not always good. Siteground prices are right where they need to be based on what they are offering.

Their hosting is great. + their customer service is very good.

I've used Siteground myself and recommended it to lots of clients.

I guess it depends on the level of support you require, because the next level higher is to get your own VPS as some said. Cloudways is a good alternative. It's a lot faster than siteground, around the same price, but their customer service is .. meehhhh.

But if you know what you're doing, then, you don't really need support.

If you're looking for quality, I would suggest you stay with Siteground.

Siteground every time for me. Have on a newish site, according to Google Sitespeed was at about 83%. Used the SG Optimiser plugin that they pop onto all WP sites that are on their hosting plans. Compressed images and ran other site enhancements and ran the Google speed test again. Returned at 97%.

Their optimisation is pretty good for a budget host. You have to move up a fair few pegs in cost to beat it.

Agreed. I have a few sites with them and have always found them reliable and when I come across a problem (usually caused by me!) the support is quick and efficient, which is all I need.
