brain trust needed for big ideas

    Hello everyone.
    I’m new, and I’d like to introduce myself and tell you all why I’m here.
    My name is William and I have a ecommerce business that is rapidly growing (launched in February this year and turnover to date is just shy of £200k) and I also have another two ideas I’m working on at the moment, both of which I believe could be very disruptive and huge actually.
    I am here because I believe it would be very beneficial to start a brain trust and my professional background to date has not created a deep well to draw from in terms of creative free thinkers, and problem solvers.
    I have a lot to offer regarding advice and creative problem solving abilities and I have contacts and a good network of people whom I have built long term business relationships with. I am looking to meet a small group of like minded people to trade good ideas and honest opinions as well as help for help, and advice for advice.
    Anyone out there feel they could also benefit from becoming part of a brain trust lets get in contact and start to build our brain trust.

    I too am a genius and therefore must be included! Some of my ideas are just so hot that even I have difficulty believing that I came up with them! For example, my Nicki Minaj hologram, created and projected from an implant in your body, was without a doubt one of my best! Sadly, I couldn't find a developer prepared to take on the gig - I mean, just how hard can it be?

    Me too actually. Only thing is a brain trust work slightly differently in that you have a close group of people with specific expertise all with their own projects, all quite confidential (especially when those projects are still in pre start development). I’m sure The Byre, with his idea for a Nicki Minaj holagram would have benefited great from belonging to a brain trust, but I think it would have been a different kind of brain trust. Can you imagine trying to have a productive conversation with a hundred people, all with exciting ideas like the Nicki Minaj hologram? It would be chaos.

    That’s not really how it works. I’m assuming that UKBF is a valuable resource for many people, but some ideas need to remain confidential at certain stages in their development. Also you’ve heard the phrase too many cooks spoil the broth... and consider the post about the Nicky Minaj hologram idea on this thread. Were that person not so outlandish and ludicrous it could be misconstrued as constructive, when it’s clear that that person either has nothing intelligent to offer anyone or he just has malice and not the slightest good intention. How could you police those kinds of people/posts?
    Personally I think the name brain trust does lend itself to fun poking, but I didn’t invent the name, it’s been around since the beginning of he 20th century (that’s 1900 for anyone who struggles with certain terminology).
    I think that UKBF sounds like a place where business savvy people might congregate.

    No one mentioned genius, genius. By the way you do know that a 250k turnover in a year is peanuts don’t you? Because I’m assuming you were thinking that I’m claiming to be a genius. Do you want to know the profit? 20k. And I have a partner. I’m proud of the fact that 9 people are enjoying a moderate income from my business. But I don’t claim to be a genius. I might appear to be to some people though. Not because of a measly 200k turnover in 10 months, but I do live in a 7.4 million pound house in Hampstead with more rooms than I will ever need.

    Ah so a non-genius living in a house that's too big. Not uncommon to come across those.
    Are you sure all 9 enjoy the moderate income? I expect they receive it, enjoy it may be another matter.

    To disrupt the frivolity. You will find it is incredibly difficult to build a coherent and reliable live community.

    I set up something similar. Nowhere near as fancy as a ‘Brain trust’ just a business community to share thoughts and problems. - in theory there was massive support, in practice every month was a challenge to get a decent number of people to turn up

    When I finally backed down, everyone professed to be disappointed but, tellingly nobody offered to pick up the reins

    Don't diss Her Minajesty! She is a person of great learning and wisdom. Her lyrics are like, truly awesome and full of strange metaphors about her pet cat and how it keeps falling into the swimming pool. "Pussy's so wet, he's gonna need goggles!"

    I ain't worked that one out yet, but it'll mean like something truly profound about the female condition in today's society!

    Yup. I have been involved with something more formal, but participation was still voluntary; although clearly a Good Cause, direct advantages to the participants were nebulous and eventually it was put to sleep to end the suffering.
