With so much emphasis on detailed content, I’m wondering where it should be placed on a website?

Does Google only trawl home pages for content?

Can it be elsewhere, such as on a FAQ page?

Can it be spread out, like basic content on home page and more detailed text on other pages ?

Is a blog a good place to put detailed content?

Actually, is a blog only rated by google based on how many followers? Or would it be rated on the content rather than how many followers it has?

Just be useful to the people you are trying to help. Solve their problems via your site, your blog or by using a megaphone or smoke signals from a chimney top. Forget Google and focus on being useful to humans - on every page of your website.

Yep, I totally agree Danny. I’ve spent hours watching YouTube clips from SEOs saying the exact same thing.
But there is only so much I can say about chicken runs, and then I think of all the questions I get from potential customers which I really need to put into words on the website.

Google likes breadth and depth. So you need useful, informative and interesting content throughout the site with lots of internal linking.

Use paragraphs, images, lists, quote, statistics and anything else that potential customers might want to read.

I’ve got pages on my site that rarely get visited but that provide leads to other content and Google likes this.

People mean a lot of things by "quality" content. But in the end, Google is no arbiter or taste - trust me. It's just a strategy you should employ because it will by and large give you the natural backlink velocity that google likes (i.e, your article shared on the correct sites, at the correct rate).

Good content could easily be a YouTube video, an infographic with zero text, or a cat meme. Don't vex yourself over that.

Good content is content that draws visitors and gets shared. It could be on your FAQ page, your home page, or anywhere else it can provide value to readers - although a blog is a good and natural place to have content and it's easy to grow (the size of your site also makes a difference to your SERPs).'

Hi John, ideally you want the content to answer the site visitor's question at a point in time that suits them. A good way to find out what your customers are thinking at different stages in the sales process is to use a service like livechat (I think they still offer a free trial).

If you want to maintain a blog, just bear in mind it's a big time commitment, and there's no immediate payoff. Google also isn't going to magically notice everything you write; you've got to inform your customers, and Google, when new posts go live by linking from your main site, and mentioning each new blog post on your facebook and twitter channels.

Well today almost every one is working on the lengthy content because they think google will give priority to them. But its not. the original language for writing the lengthy content is the usefulness and more information to the user. so until some visitors like your content and voted them your content cannot be counted.

That makes no sense at all. What do you mean by like and voting content? Are you suggesting Google ignores content until you have facebook likes? If that is the case you are mistaken.

Think about what information your potential customers will find interesting. Some of this content can be placed in a blog but also some may be more permanent.

Think about the questions customers ask about or think about when they are interested in your products or services.

For example, we offer domain name registration. One thing that businesses think about when they are starting out is what to think about when choosing a domain name. So we wrote an article about it.

Offering articles that explain in some detail about the different choices open to them when making buyer decisions.

And yes the content is spread out over the website. offering many different entry points depending upon the motivation of visitors. FAQs are good for people already there to add confidence to buyer decisions and can be good for creating definitions (which google uses). Blogs are good for news and creating a knowledge base of articles and then create separate landing pages for more directly relevant service or product related pages.

Just remember people are not search engines.

Content is king because a useful content help the user to understand the product and services or the information you want to convey. There is nothing like long content is good but i always think that you can better explain a thing in Few words. Forget about all these thins and focus on quality and customer satisfaction because its the Customers who brings money for you.

From my experience what matters the most is to have your meta data in order , use google webmasters to index your pages , use fetch if needed and another important factor is quality backlinks which takes time but it's worth it.
I wouldn't say content is king , to be fair , yes it matters but backlinks are way more important.
There are high PR websites that get indexed on page 1 with literally no relevant content...

Google can crawl all the pages on your website! Content is king and it will always be the king. Once you start providing the necessary content on your website, your website will definitely get more pageviews in the least amount of time.
