Google Search Console - Site not verified anymore

Hi there,

I am hoping someone can advise please.

I have challenges with Google search console and feel like i have been going around in circles!

I verfiied my site some time ago, submitted my sitemap and was getting keyword data. Then a few months ago it seemed to not be reporting any keyword data and didnt recognise the sitemap anymore. I resubmitted it and everything seemed fine however i never received keyword data.

Now i try to login and it tells me that i need to verify my site.

It seems to have reverted completely back to the start.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone tell me why this would be happening and more importantly what i can do to fix it? I dont want to verify it again only for this to happen again in the near future - I would rather deal with issues now.

Many thanks in advance for your time.

Laura

    I've never seen this happen.

    A few possible reasons;

    Could someone else have claimed the site (i.e someone with access to the website's back end or FTP access)?

    Have you changed the site url? for example by implementing an SSL?

    Is the site registered with Google Analytics under the same Google account as Search Console.....if so are there any issues with Analytics?

    Thank you all for your thoughts/comments. Interestingly we did have challenges with SSL certification but this was a few months ago. Do you think this would still be having an impact? Would reverfying the site fix this or would we need to do something more? I just dont want this happening again. Kind regards Laura

    • Have you moved your site to https from http?
    • Have you added noindex tag to your site?
    • Have you disallowed google bot. Check robots.txt file.
    If you moved your site to https, verify with https. If you added any noindex tag, remove it. If you disallowed google bot, allow it to crawl your site.
