WARNING: Russian clones of UKBF - negative SEO impact

Hi all,

I have just seen my sites rankings drop every day for the past few weeks. Having looked through our backlink profile there are around 500 sites which are clones of the UKBF site, including all external links to businesses in the directory.

These links are flooded with 'forex' links and come from very bad neighbourhoods. I am currently compiling a disavow list of all the domains. I will update this post once I am done.

They started on the 17th September and I have a list going up to the 14th October - but there are more every day.

These backlinks WILL be seriously effecting your rankings, so if you are listed in the directory get your backlinks looked in to ASAP or use the disavow file I will add soon.

There was a previous post on this and I've gone through and disavowed about 120 links from our site. After I had done it I thought it would have been a good idea to compile a list of domains and upload it here, so appreciate you taking the time to do it.

I'm not seeing any change in ranking across a whole range of sites and keywords. Which means it's not these links causing the problems, it's these links combined with other factors.

Google is very good at ignoring this sort of spam so there could be other triggers you haven't identified.

Don't forget the recent Panda updates and running. It has not destroyed rankings, but certain keywords I find myself 3-4 pages lower than before these links existed.

Anyway, attached is a disavow list of everything I can currently see (202 domains), but I am sure these will keep coming daily.

Have you noticed if the sigs/links change when changed?

i.e.
are they pulling static content from UKBF or live content?

I doubt very much if profile links from UKBF clones are the cause of your ranking drop. Google has been ignoring profile links in the PageRank algo for years.

Its the business directory links I am seeing. Which would be considered. The 'profile links' that are not counted are more from user profiles than directory profiles.

Either way, I disavowed them all today, my rankings took a plunge a week after they started appearing and the only change to my SEO in 2 months is that huge influx of bad backlinks. I won't be doing much more for a month, so we will see if the disavow alone does help.

I just changed my sig, checked one without allowing it to redirect, it still showed old sig.
So it looks like it isn't pulling live.

I'm not seeing any such drops as a result of this. I'd put my money on fisicx take here - namely that your ranking drops are attributable to other factors.

Our organic is up so strongly that if this was a global phenomenon, we'd have felt it, but aren't feeling any such.

I am currently at 1300 backlinks attached to my site. The responsible party is freeprwebdirectory.com If you go to the bottom of the website, it says forex currency host. I actually have the email address of the person responsible

I would think this could stop it. I was told they just needed to find the responsible host. I hope this helps.
