Is it okay to get facebook likes from online sites?

Its been a few days since i have been using traffup to get likes on my blog's facebook page. I am getting good amount of likes on my blog's page but i want to confirm something.

Is it okay to use such sites to get likes? I mean, I have just submitted the URL of my page and have not given any other information about my account. Will FB be able to track such likes?

According to me these type of like is not SO good. we get the like from online website by submitting our web URL. but, these all is automated likes. these all the like counts as spam because these all is generated by the Softwares. so we need to improve like by using the organic strategies of SMO.

I have a blog with 500 visitors per day. I have placed my blog's FB page widget on my site, and gained just a few followers.

The latest currency for blogs today is how many page likes you have. So, i wanted to create an impression and that is why i signed up with this website called traffup.

All i want to know is if it okay to use such websites?

@nada - no, this website doesnt use API. i myself earned points by liking other pages. they open your fb page in a popup and you got to like it directly on FB. Without API, i dont think it could be automated?

fake is fake, whether it is an api, popup for points, etc. You can go on fiverr and buy 1,000 likes, no one really takes any notice any more.

i agree. I know my actions has no logicality. But the world these days doesn't run on it.

You need to get to a certain number of likes in order to get further likes themselves.. There are certain section of people who wont like a page unless others are liking it. It sounds insane, but thats the truth.

Had that not been the case, even our world would have been a better place.

Google plus is much better than Facebook. But why are people on Facebook? because they think its cool.. They dont care about the features....

Whilst that may be the case for you and many people, some people are persuaded by social proof when liking pages on Facebook.

However, I don't think the OP's method of gaining these Likes is a good idea. A large number of likes with very little (or zero) engagement looks really bad but also greatly affects your Facebook ranking algorithm and kills your reach.

It is much better to build quality Likes with engaged users.

And yes, i won't be looking for thousands of facebook like. I would just for a few hundreds to just show something on my facebook page

Getting likes from real people is not easy because its a sign of trust that gives in your page. An important factor to build your sites reputation from your targeted audience.

If you only want the higher number of likes in your page then its fine but please do not expect any interactions and conversion from those fans cause they are only liking your page just to increase the points.

Ofcourse, its just to impress the future fans. Anyone who expects sales or interactions from such likes would be a fool. But yes, a few users does like my blog posts. But that's a rarity on such sites.

Nothing looks worse or more fake than going to a FB page with hundreds/thousands of likes yet no response from anyone when page owner posts. That's what happens with fake likes.

I agree with you completely. That's why i am against buying bulk facebook likes from Fiverr.

On the other hand, these sites that provide free facebook likes, increases your likes in small numbers. Plus, you can stop it the moment you think you have achieved your target. For me its 500 likes from traffup, just to create an early impression.

Afterall, 5 page likes look way worse than 500 likes (i agree some of them would be irrelevant).

Get rid if the likes. Take it off your site - you don't need it at all.

Buying likes won't make you popular of social media, writing and sharing great content will.

Social media is really important, if your customers are there. If they are not there, it is completely irrelevant.

fyi, tactics like buying likes/links is the kind of thing that is going to get you site punished by Google, so it's not great protection.

That's a pointless arguement. You are buying likes which means they won't ever visit your website. If your ranking plummets none of your facebook likes are going to be of any value at all.

Everybody is telling you that buying likes is pointless but you seem intent on doing it anyway so this thread is on no value.

i was talking about getting a few likes from online sites to kickstart things.. i never said, go grab thousands of likes from traffup or such sites..

all is not black n white in this space.. there are some grey portions too..

Buying likes is not illegal, don't know who told you that. Facebook will happily sell you likes, so how can it be illegal?

Whether you buy 1000 likes or a just few likes to "kickstart" things, makes no difference.

They won't buy anything, they won't increase your traffic, they won't improve your SEO, they won't protect you from Panda or any other update, they won't benefit you in any tangible way.

They are all fake, they don't really exist, so they can't care or look at a timeline.

It's not illegal, it's against Facebook terms and conditions and is likely to harm your page.

You are saying you disagree with buying likes and accept that it can negatively impact your reach but seem to think that the concept of social proof outweighs this. It doesn't. Facebook reach is hard enough at the best of times but if your page gets limited by poor engagement and/or Facebook detecting your page likes are fake, then you might as well not have a Facebook page at all.

What kind of blog do you have? There are possibly ways you can build up real and engaged user likes quite quickly.
